  • Patent number: 6202464
Abstract: The present invention provides a universal rolling mill in which rolls including width-variable rolling rolls can be replaced at a time even if the universal rolling mill is of a type in which a yoke is caused to recede upward. A concrete structure of the invention is the universal rolling mill including a pair of width-variable rolling rolls each of the rolls having a driving portion (housed in a support box) detachably joined to an end portion of a roll shaft on an operating side for varying a rolling width, the pair of width-variable rolling rolls being used as horizontal rolls, in which a receiving/passing device for receiving and passing the driving portion of an upper width-variable rolling roll from and to the rolling mill is mounted to a yoke for receiving reaction force of an upright roll on the operating side.

  • Patent number: 5533374
Abstract: An edging roll for rolling a shape having a web and flanges, including a main shaft having an eccentric shaft portion; an eccentric sleeve having an eccentric portion facing the eccentric shaft portion of the main shaft; web-restricting rollers attached to the eccentric shaft portion of the main shaft and the eccentric portion of the eccentric sleeve through bearings; flange rolling rolls attached to the main shaft and the eccentric sleeve through bearings; a flange rolling roll drive means having a pair of gear transmission means, a connection shaft, and a rotation drive means; a roll height adjustment means for integrally rotating the main shaft and the eccentric sleeve; a roll-width adjustment means for synchronously and mutually moving the main shaft and the eccentric sleeve; and further a roll width/height adjustment synchronizing means and a pair of guide rings may also be disposed.

  • Patent number: 5253039
Abstract: In the size measurement of steel sections, a pair of two-dimensional rangefinders and a pair of one-dimensional rangefinders are arranged so as to sandwich a steel section consisting of a pair of flange portions and a web portion in a widthwise direction of the flange portion and face to each other, whereby a vertical distance ranging from the two-dimensional rangefinder to the flange portion and a vertical distance ranging from the one-dimensional rangefinder to the web portion are measured, respectively to calculate a deviation at center, a flange width and a web thickness from the above measured values. In this case, a laser rangefinder is used as each of the two-dimensional rangefinder and one-dimensional rangefinder.

  • Patent number: 5195347
Abstract: A guide device for shape rolling has upper and lower pairs of width-variable web guides arranged at the delivery of a shape mill. Support bases supporting the upper and lower pairs of web guides. Movable bases move the support bases horizontally on side frames whose ends are fixed to guide frames. Guide width adjusting devices individually adjust the distance between the movable bases; and guide height adjusting devices enable the side frames to ascend and descend. Preferably, upper and lower pairs of flange end guide rollers and flange-outer-surface guide rollers, which are adapted to roll while in contact with the end surfaces and the outer surfaces of the flanges, can move in the vertical and horizontal directions.

  • Patent number: 5060498
Abstract: A section steel straightener for correcting deformations in section steel, such as H-beams. The straightener allows for adjusting the width of the rollers without disassembling the apparatus, but rather by rotating sleeves to change the distance between rollers. Also disclosed is a plurality of rollers forming at least one of the fixed roller and movable roller such that the required amount of movement of the movable roller is reduced, thereby reducing idle time of the straightener.

  • Patent number: 5031435
Abstract: Adjustable width rolls are preferably used for rolling, for example, insides of H-beams of various sizes without exchanging horizontal rolls of a rolling mill. Each of the adjustable width rolls includes a roll shaft rotatably and axially movably supported relative to the rolling mill, and axially adjustable sleeve roll fixed to the roll shaft, and an axially stationary sleeve roll mounted on the roll shaft to be axially slidable but against rotatable relatively to the roll shaft. The adjustable width roll further includes an axially adjustable roll fixedly supported by the axially adjustable sleeve roll to form substantially one half of a rolling barrel of the adjustable width roll, an axially stationary roll fixedly supported by the axially stationary sleeve roll to form substantially the remaining half of the rolling barrel of the adjustable width roll, and a driving mechanism for driving the roll shaft in axial directions of the roll shaft.
