  • Patent number: 7248830
Abstract: A program video and program-related information are input, and program-related contents are generated based on a tree structure defined in advance. Based on a preset viewing data quantity as a viewing request from each user who has a portable terminal, leaf nodes in the tree structure of the program-related contents are selected as presentation candidates for each user. A presentation route that follows the leaf nodes of the presentation candidates starting from the root of the tree structure is generated as a presentation scenario for each user. The generated presentation scenario is transmitted to the portable terminal of the corresponding user.

  • Patent number: 7035868
Abstract: A digest or summary is generated from an athletic footage containing a predetermined set of metadata. The metadata includes information on time, score and event types. Scenes are selected from the athletic footage based upon the metadata, and the scenes are significant in a flow of the game or the athletic competition. Some scenes are also selected based upon the assumption that a certain failed scoring attempt is succeeded. The above described selection scheme allows the extraction of scenes that are meaningful and significant in summarizing an athletic footage.

  • Publication number: 20040192382
Abstract: A personal digest delivery system can automatically create and deliver a higher quality digest promptly. The personal digest delivery system comprises a field processing apparatus creating meta data and a digest candidate scene in the field and sending the meta data and the digest candidate scene to an exterior of the field, a digest processing apparatus creating a personal digest from the sent meta data and preference information and exhibiting the personal digest to a user, and a moving image delivery processing apparatus editing the digest candidate scene in accordance with the personal digest so as to create moving image data and delivering the moving image data to a mobile terminal of the user.

  • Patent number: 6286004
Abstract: A distributed type of database system according to the present invention comprises a communication line for transmitting, when a transaction is generated in any of a plurality of DB sites, a request message for requesting permission of updating from the DB site to a broadcasting station site. After receiving the message, it is determined in the broadcasting station site whether a permission for updating should be given or not. The result of the determination is transmitted to all the DB sites in the broadcasting mode through a satellite.

  • Patent number: 5680612
Abstract: There is provided a document retrieval apparatus in which signatures can be easily extracted from document data, and false drop probability is reduced even for a long document so as to reduce a burden of eliminating the false drop. A processing unit converts the document data and the character string into character codes, respectively. The processing unit extracts signatures from each of the character codes, and calculates a record identifier of the document data to be stored based on a storing position of the document data in a record file. A data storing unit stores the document data to be registered in the record file, and stores the signature corresponding to the document data to be registered in a signature file. The signature is stored in a storing position in the signature file, the storing position being designated by the record identifier of corresponding document data stored in the record file.

  • Patent number: 5495567
Abstract: An automatic interface layout generator for database systems is disclosed herein. The automatic generator includes a specification tool for specifying a set of block descriptions representative of specified portions of a database. A block layout generator produces interface objects to be included within an interface of the database, wherein each of the interface objects corresponds to one of the block descriptions and includes a plurality of layout fields. A layout quality parameter is determined for each of the interface objects based on arrangement of the layout fields within the interface objects. A block placement generator arranges sets of the interface objects into block configurations within the interface. A placement quality parameter for each of the block configurations is derived based on a set of block placement rules and on the layout quality parameters, and a final block configuration is selected by comparing the placement quality parameters corresponding to particular block configurations.
