  • Patent number: 5875265
Abstract: An image analyzing and expression adding apparatus for presenting an operator with image impressions displayed in terms of sensitive language and for allowing the operator to use stored design know-how in adding expressions to the image on display. An image segmenting unit segments an input image into a plurality of areas. An image feature storing unit stores the physical feature quantities of each of the segmented areas. The physical feature quantities are processed by an image analyzing unit preparing visual feature quantities about the entire image. A sensitive influence quantity computing unit receives the visual feature quantities thus prepared and, based on information from a design know-how storing unit, computes factors of the terms representing sensitivity. The operator is presented with the factors of the sensitivity-expressing terms. In response, the operator instructs desired expressions using the sensitivity-expressing terms through an expression instructing unit.

  • Patent number: 5850475
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for dividing an image area according to the present invention, when data of a quantized multi-gradational image are to be divided into regions according to a texture of the image, the quantized multi-gradational image data are divided into plural rectangular subareas and boundary areas. Each of the rectangular subareas and a boundary area in the periphery of the subarea are combined to form one set. The area dividing is conducted on each of the sets. In the area dividing, the subarea is subjected one time to a dividing process, and the boundary area is subjected two or more times to a dividing process.

  • Patent number: 5237347
Abstract: An optical writing apparatus whereby non-light-emitting portions that might exist between adjacent light-emitting elements arranged in parallel rows can be substantially eliminated either in the direction of the rows or in the direction perpendicular to the row direction. In addition, dotted latent electrostatic images can be formed in such a way that adjacent dots partially overlap with each other, thus contributing to improved image quality and resolution. Further, because light-emitting elements are connected to a common anode electrode, a reduced number of electronic devices is required to drive the elements.

  • Patent number: 4949099
Abstract: A fluorescent printer head capable of rendering luminance of dot-like anodes along its main scanning direction uniform and stable to improve quality of printing in an optical printer. The fluorescent printer head includes dot-like anodes constituting a luminous area, control electrodes having apertures formed at positions corresponding to the dot-like anodes, and at least one filamentary cathode stretched above the control electrode extending along the middle portion of the luminous area.
