  • Patent number: 6293686
Abstract: The lighting device for a vehicle includes running direction detect means 3 for detecting the vehicle running direction or the vehicle steering angle and vehicle speed detect means 4 for detecting the vehicle speed. An illumination control means 5 specifies the turn-on and turn-off of a plurality of lamps in accordance with detect signals output from the means 3 and 4, thereby changing the combinations of the illumination ranges of the lamps.

  • Publication number: 20010019482
Abstract: An infrared-ray radiating lamp which is prevented from being mistaken for a tail lamp or a stop lamp by ensuring that not only infrared rays but also visible rays are emanated from a front lens simultaneously. The lamp includes a lighting chamber defined by a lamp body and a front lens, a reflector disposed in the lighting chamber, and infrared-ray radiation means and visible-ray radiation means disposed in front of the reflector in the lighting chamber. The infrared rays radiated from the infrared-ray radiation means and the visible rays radiated from the visible-ray radiation means are emanated from the front lens simultaneously when the lamp is lit. Thus, the rays distributed by the lamp include both red infrared rays and white visible rays, and therefore a red color is not particularly noticeable. Thus, the infrared-ray radiating lamp when lit is not mistaken for a tail lamp or a stop lamp.

  • Patent number: 5993033
Abstract: An apparatus for leveling a vehicle lamp such that an opening of the pivot receiving body is formed in a non-circular shape; the cross sectional shape of the pivot body in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the pivot body is formed so that the pivot body can be inserted into the opening of the pivot receiving body in at least one direction; and the cross sectional shape of the pivot body cannot be inserted into the opening of the pivot receiving body in at least the other direction; and the pivot body is prevented from slipping off the pivot receiving body by turning the pivot body by a predetermined angle around the axis of the pivot body after the pivot body is inserted into the pivot receiving body.

  • Patent number: 5908239
Abstract: A vehicle headlamp has a reflector coupled to a lamp housing via a pivotal connection and two aiming mechanisms for tilting the reflector relative to the lamp housing about horizontal and vertical axes intersecting at the pivotal connection. One such aiming mechanism comprises an aiming screw rotatably mounted to the lamp housing, a socket member affixed to the back of the reflector, and a ball with a tapped hole extending therethrough to fit over the aiming screw. The socket member has a hollow extending therethrough for receiving the aiming screw with clearance. Part of the hollow in the socket member is formed into a socket for rotatably receiving the ball on the aiming screw. A lockpin on the ball is engaged in a slot in the socket member thereby locking the ball against rotation relative to the socket member about the axis of the hole therein.
