Abstract: Certain embodiments of the presently described technology provide methods and systems for positioning of an endotracheal tube. Certain embodiments provide an endotracheal tube system including an endotracheal tube and a removable positioning member. The endotracheal tube is sized and adapted for providing airway maintenance during an endotracheal procedure. The removable positioning member is sized and adapted to be insertable into and removable from the endotracheal tube. The removable positioning member includes a positioning element located proximal to the distal end of the removable positioning member. The positioning element provides an indication of position when at least a portion of the endotracheal tube is inside of a patient.
