  • Publication number: 20240017462
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and an extruder for making carbon blocks using poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) as binder and absorbents such as activated carbon.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 20, 2021
    Publication date: January 18, 2024
Inventors: Jialing LIU, Azaz A. VAHORA
  • Publication number: 20220372185
Abstract: An injection molding process to mold a fluorinated thermoplastic elastomeric polymer composition is disclosed. An article made using the process has little shrinkage.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 2, 2020
    Publication date: November 24, 2022
Inventors: Adam W. Hauser, Azaz A. Vahora, Mathieu Y. Capelot, Yves Deyrail, Francois Bargain
  • Publication number: 20220297085
Abstract: The invention relates to a solid porous article having a crosslinked thermoplastic binder interconnecting one or more types of interactive powdery materials or fibers. The interconnectivity is such that the binder connects the powdery materials or fibers in discrete spots rather than as a complete coating, allowing the materials or fibers to be in direct contact with, and interact with a fluid. The resulting article is a formed multicomponent, interconnected web, with porosity. The separation article is useful in water purification, as well as in the separation of dissolved or suspended materials in both aqueous and non-aqueous systems in industrial uses, gas storage.
    Type: Application
    Filed: June 23, 2020
    Publication date: September 22, 2022
Inventors: Florence MEHLMANN, Azaz A. VAHORA
  • Publication number: 20210101129
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to an immobilized media device and methods for making an immobilized media device. The present disclosure is also directed to methods for the separation of components of a media comprising filtering the media through an immobilized media device.
    Type: Application
    Filed: April 8, 2019
    Publication date: April 8, 2021
Inventors: Roderick REBER, III, Sean M. STABLER, Denis Kato DE ALMEIDA, Azaz A. VAHORA, Florence MEHLMANN
  • Publication number: 20210069981
Abstract: The invention relates to thermoplastic filament for use in 3-D printers, in which the core of the filament is non-solid or mono-filament. The filament may contain a multitude of small micro-voids, (a micro foam), be a foam-core structure, be hollow, or have a monofilament core. The filament of the invention is especially useful with crystalline and semi-crystalline polymers, and reduces the negative effect of filament voids, formed by shrinkage during the cooling of the filament.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 27, 2018
    Publication date: March 11, 2021
Inventors: Azaz VAHORA, James Joseph HENRY, David Shin-Ren LIU
  • Patent number: 10532340
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of a high performance thermoplastic polymer binder material for immobilizing adsorptive materials, such as activated carbon, in gas storage devices. The use of these binders, especially polyamide binders, polytetrafluoroethylene binders, or polyvinylidene fluoride binders such as Kyblock® resin, provides for high sorbent packing density, low fouling solid structure that maximizes the volume of gas to the volume of the storage space.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 11, 2018
Date of Patent: January 14, 2020
    Assignee: Arkema Inc.
Inventors: Sean M. Stabler, Azaz A. Vahora, Denis Kato De Almeida, Florence Mehlmann, Ramin Amin-Sanayei
