  • Publication number: 20230390800
Abstract: Insulated ovens include an oven entry enclosure having a quick cool-down fan and damper, a direct-fired, forced draft combustion chamber, a converging enclosure at a distal end of the chamber, an oven exit enclosure having an exhaust fan, and oven cool-down doors. Combustion burners form a first heated gas that heats a wet coated continuous metal sheet to form a dried, uncured continuous metal sheet having a first heated temperature higher than an initial temperature. The converging enclosure includes more burners, creating impinging flames that heat the dried, uncured continuous metal sheet, forming a continuous metal sheet having a dried, cured water-based coating having a second heated temperature higher than the first heated temperature. During cooling, actuators stop the coated continuous metal sheet upon receipt of a first signal, stop combustion except for pilot burners, open the cool-down doors and operate the quick cool-down fan to avoid waste. Burners may be relit in a second heating cycle.

  • Patent number: 10792701
Abstract: Systems and methods for treating metal pipe couplings, including a frame and insulated panels attached to the frame forming an oven. A pre-heat zone and a bake zone inside the oven, the pre-heat zone separated from the bake zone by a shared oven wall. A combustion burner and recirculation blower are positioned in opposite ends of the oven in a pre-heat zone combustion/recirculation chamber. Another burner and recirculation blower pair are positioned in opposite ends of the oven in a bake zone combustion/recirculation chamber. Heated air supply plenums are fluidly connected to respective recirculation blowers, and include direction-adjustable nozzles to direct heated air generally downward onto pipe couplings moving through the preheat and bake zones. Return air plenums positioned in each of the pre-heat and bake zones each have an air inlet, and an outlet fluidly connected to respective combustion/recirculation chambers. Coating-cured metal pipe couplings made by the methods.

  • Patent number: 10487283
Abstract: In a first cycle, an effluent gas composition including volatile organic compounds flows into a first vessel having heated ceramic material therein, forming a heated effluent composition, which then flows into a combustion/retention chamber connected to the first vessel, the combustion/retention chamber comprising a burner, which combusts VOCs in heated effluent composition. The hydrocarbon-depleted heated effluent composition flows into a second vessel with a second ceramic material therein, and heat transferred thereto. A hydrocarbon-depleted first cycle cooled effluent composition is directed into a first indirect heat exchanger, transferring heat to a very low VOC airstream. The heated very low VOC airstream is then directed into a unit designed to employ the heated very VOC airstream for heating. The effluent composition is then directed into a second indirect heat exchanger, transferring heat to a water stream. The direction of flow is reversed in a second cycle, while a third vessel is purged.

  • Patent number: 9726429
Abstract: Systems and methods for treating wood and wood products, including a structure defining a wood treating zone, an air heating zone, a heated air supply zone, and a cooled air return zone. Heating units feed conduits defining one or more heat transfer surfaces and an indirect heat exchange substructure. The heated air supply zone includes left and right heated air plenums, and the cooled air return zone includes a return duct, all internal of the wood treating zone. A movable cart moves spaced apart, stacked wood products into and out of the wood heating zone. The cart and wood thereon fit closely within but do not touch the wood treating zone. An air blower internal of the heated air supply zone and in fluid communication with the air heating zone and the heated air supply zone recirculates air. An exhaust blower vents some of the cooled air.

  • Patent number: 6149707
Abstract: This is a method for pyrocleaning that degreases metal components using an oven, an oxidizer, a system gas supply, a system gas exhaust, and heat exchangers. The degreasing is accomplished by first transporting the metal components through the oven and exposing the oil coated metal components to hot gases which have a temperature above the vaporization point of the oil. The hot gases are introduced into the oven by way of the system gas supply that does not include products of combustion (indirect heating). Since the gases are at a temperature above the vaporization point of the oil, upon contact with the metal components, the gases cause the oil to evaporate from the metal components. The resultant hydrocarbon-filled surrounding gases are then evacuated from the oven and transported to the oxidizer. In the oxidizer, the hydrocarbon-filled gases are exposed to a burner that catalyzes the oxidation process. After exiting from the oxidizer, the hydrocarbon-free gases are discharged into the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 6135765
Abstract: A Pyrocleaning Furnace and Thermal Oxidizer System which degreases metal components and comprises an oven, an oxidizer, a system gas supply means, a system gas exhaust means, and a first heat exchanger. The degreasing is accomplished by first transporting the metal components through the oven and exposing the oil coated metal components to hot gases which have a temperature above the vaporization point of the oil, but not one that is exceedingly high thereby also preventing the thickening of the oxide layer of the metal components. The hot gases are introduced into oven by way of the system gas supply means and do not include products of combustion (indirect heating). Since the gases are at a temperature above the vaporization point of the oil, upon contact with the metal components, the gases cause the oil to evaporate from the metal components. The resultant hydrocarbon-filled surrounding gases are then quickly evacuated from the oven and transported to the oxidizer.

  • Patent number: 4322203
Abstract: A batch type pipe burnout oven is provided with improved pollution control and heat recovery features. The oven is elongated with an end opening for introduction of a movable support or cart with pipe supported thereon. The oven is brought to burnout temperature faster than prior art ovens and an improved system is provided for pollution control by incineration of hydrocarbon fumes together with recovery of heat which results in superior fuel economy. The oven is provided with a pair of oppositely positioned plenums along the sides thereof which supply heated air in large volume and high velocity through a plurality of nozzle slots to the pipe-containing chamber and are themselves supplied from a recirculation burner chamber on the top of the oven. A relatively small volume of air, laden with volatile, combustible fumes, is withdrawn from the oven at a relatively low velocity by an exhaust fan.

  • Patent number: 4242084
Abstract: A system of air pollution control and heat recovery is provided for an arrangement of industrial ovens, especially for drum manufacture.A plurality of paint bake ovens of various capacities, lengths and heat input are provided for multi-stage processing in the manufacture of drums and lids therefor. A supply of high temperature water is provided for multi-stage cleaning and rinsing in the manufacturing operation. The combined exhaust from all of the ovens at 25% LEL is preheated in a heat exchanger and then all of the combustible components are burnt off by passing through the flames of an incinerator grid burner. The effluent from the burner first passes through the heat exchanger to preheat said oven exhaust gases and then through hot water coils to provide all of the necessary hot water for the system. High pressure hot water (275.degree.) is provided in this heat exchange operation.

  • Patent number: 4240787
Abstract: A system of drying ovens is disclosed with associated means for heat reclamation and air pollution control. The ovens are primarily for drying or baking paint or other coatings on pipes or the like where the emissions are primarily hydrocarbons. In this system of ovens, hydrocarbon fumes are concentrated at the ends of the oven. Solvent laden fumes are, therefore, collected where the concentration is the highest. The exhaust from the oven is located at the central portion and leads to a combustion/incineration chamber where it is exhausted to atmosphere after incineration and a major part of the heat is recovered and recirculated to the oven. In a sequence of ovens, the exhaust from one oven is circulated to the next at a high linear velocity, but low volume (at 25% LEL) and heated to a high temperature (1400.degree. F.) by in-line incineration of the fumes.
