    Abstract: This invention relates to new dosage units of medicinal agents for oral administration in the form of tablets which provide a controlled rate of release of the medicament in the gastrointestinal tract. More particularly, the invention relates to dense compressed tablets comprising mainly sustained release coated pellets processed such that the tablets disintegrate rapidly in aqueous and gastric fluids at body temperature, releasing the medicinal agent contained therein gradually over a relatively long period of time.
