  • Patent number: 11991583
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for controlling user equipment (UE) functionality associated with a mobility state. A UE may receive one or more mobility-based cell selection factors from a network. At least one mobility-based cell selection factor may indicate a preference for selecting a relatively lower-mobility cell. In some cell reselection examples, if a UE determines that multiple neighbor cells satisfy one or more cell reselection criteria, the UE may select the cell corresponding to the lowest mobility state. According to some call initiation examples in which a UE is configured for wireless communication via multiple subscriber services, the UE may select the subscriber service corresponding to the lower (or lowest) mobility state. According to some radio link failure (RLF) recovery examples in which there are multiple cells suitable for re-establishment, a UE may be configured to select a cell corresponding to the lowest mobility state.

  • Publication number: 20240147190
Abstract: During a positioning session between a user equipment (UE) and a location server, the location server may send the base station a request to suspend the Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection with the UE. For example, the location server may send a request to the base station recommending suspension of the connection or may provide an indication of the amount of time during which position related messages between the UE and the location server are not expected. The base station may determine whether to suspend the connection with the UE, thereby placing the UE in an inactive state based on the information provided. The base station may further determine whether to suspend the connection based on data activity of the UE. While in an inactive state, the UE and base station store UE connection context, which may be used to quickly resume the connection.

  • Publication number: 20230417861
Abstract: Techniques are provided for coordinating radio frequency (RF) sensing by a plurality of wireless devices. Wireless devices obtain RF sensing coordination information that includes orthogonality information for transmission and reception of RF sensing signals to reduce or eliminate interference between RF sensing by different devices. The orthogonality information may be provided by a server, another wireless device, or a group of wireless devices. The orthogonality information is used by a wireless device to transmit and receive RF sensing signals that are orthogonal to RF sensing signals transmitted and received by other nearby wireless devices. The orthogonality information may be for orthogonality in a spatial domain, time domain, frequency domain, code domain, or some combination of these. The wireless devices perform RF sensing operations based at least in part on the RF sensing coordination information and report the RF sensing results.

  • Publication number: 20230422290
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may use random selection to select sidelink resources when a channel busy ratio (CBR) associated with a sidelink channel satisfies a CBR threshold. Alternatively, the UE may use partial sensing to select the sidelink resources when a block error ratio (BLER) associated with the sidelink channel fails to satisfy a BLER threshold. Accordingly, the UE may transmit on the sidelink channel using the sidelink resources. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Patent number: 11849371
Abstract: During a positioning session, a user equipment (UE) is provided with an early uplink grant to respond to a request for location service information from a location server. The location service information, for example, may be a request for positioning capabilities, a request for positioning measurements or a position estimate, and may be a request for a single, periodic or triggered location information. The early uplink grant may be requested by the UE prior to needing the uplink grant, e.g., before the positioning measurements have been completed. The location server may instigate the early uplink grant, e.g., at or near the same time that the location server sends the request for information to the UE. The early uplink grant may be used, e.g., during high priority or emergency related positioning sessions, in order to reduce delay in the UE providing a response to the request for location information.
