Abstract: A cuff device for securing a cord of a nurse call button to a portion of a body, the device having a strap having an interior surface, an exterior surface, a first end, and a second end, a padded portion engaged to the interior surface of the strap, a cuff fastening mechanism capable of releaseably securing the cuff device to a portion of the body, and a cord fastener capable of securing the cord to the strap, where the strap is capable of encircling a portion of the body.

Abstract: A means is provided for specifying, applying, and managing sets of temporary or permanent additions or modifications to the behavior of object-oriented programs without having to change the code of the program, by using externalized rules. The points at which the externalized rules may be applied is determined by the implementation object model, thus making their specification natural to the program developers who are familiar with the program's implementation object model. The concept of dynamic method-based trigger or control points is disclosed for identifying potential rule attachment points in objects and identifying the rules that are applicable to each dynamic control point.

Abstract: A system for registering applications for use with a graphic user interface which includes providing registration information for the applications. The registration information includes class identifiers and templates. The templates identify object classes. Each of the class identifiers and each of the templates correspond to a particular application, and the system utilizes templates for registering applications and may utilize subprograms belonging to the graphic user interface to register applications. The system further includes initiating subprograms utilized while registering an object class, if the graphic user interface is inactive.
