Abstract: An apparatus for presenting search results includes a content module that gathers user-generated content from a plurality of users of a social networking service, the user-generated content relating to one or more of an event and an activity, a cluster module that identifies a cluster of related user-generated content from the location information of the gathered user-generated content, the cluster comprising a plurality of items of user-generated content relating to one or more of a common event and an activity that have a geographically similar location, an area module that determines an area containing the cluster of related user-generated content, a search module that receives a search query, the search query related to one or more of the common event and activity of the cluster, and a map display module that presents, on an electronic map, a boundary for the determined area.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for guiding gesture operations are provided in the illustrative embodiments. An initial position of a gesture is determined. The gesture is a touch-based gesture made by a user relative to a touch-sensitive interface of a data processing system. The gesture is made to manipulate data presented using the data processing system. A set of gesture size adjustments is determined. A set of data adjustments to be made to the data is computed. An adjustment in the set of data adjustments corresponds to an adjustment in the set of gesture size adjustments. The set of gesture size adjustments and the corresponding set of data adjustments are presented as a guide relative to the initial position of the gesture. The guide informs the user about an expected result of a member gesture size adjustment before the user makes the gesture size adjustment.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a security location module that tracks a location of a user. The user has a heads-up display with a display that allows viewing by the user of items along with electronic display images. An object identification module identifies an object for tracking using cameras. A selection module selects the identified object for tracking, an object location module identifies a location and direction information of the selected object and an alert module sends the location and the direction information of the selected object to the heads-up display. A display module identifies the selected object in the heads-up display of the user when the object is in the field of view of the heads-up display, or provides instruction on the heads-up display to direct the user to move the heads-up display so that the selected object is in the field of view of the heads-up display.

Abstract: Various embodiments present file indexes within a file managing and navigation interface. In one embodiment, a set of files is presented within a user interface of a file managing and navigation application. A visual indicator is associated with at least one file in the set of files. The visual indicator indicates to a user that the at least one file is associated with an index. The index includes a set of index components associated with a content set of the at least one file. A request from the user to is received to display the index. The index is presented to the user within the user interface based on receiving the request.

Abstract: Mobile communication devices, like smartphones, cooperatively interact with one another and with a communication provider, like a cellular telephone provider, to manage power usage by the mobile devices, where the communication capabilities of the devices are still retained. For example, for two mobile devices, the first device may be placed into a reduced-power mode, while the second device remains in a non-reduced-power mode. The second device at least partially assumes the communication capability of the first device so that the communication capability of the first device is retained.

Abstract: A creator can specify one or more navigation paths through an album of pictures on a social networking web site. Each navigation path has a name and specifies a sequence in which a number of the pictures are to be viewed by a viewer. The viewer can select by name the desired navigation path through the album. A navigation path through the album can also be determined from content in which the viewer is interested from a profile of the viewer on the social networking web site. A navigation path can be determined from users on the social networking web site that are associated with the viewer on the web site. A navigation path can be determined from analysis of an interaction history of the viewer on the social networking web site, apart from the viewer's profile and the viewer's associated users on the web site.

Abstract: A user of an automobile interactive onboard computer display monitors and controls battery power distribution during discharge. The user is enabled to interactively enter into a computer controlled display, proportions of the total battery power to be distributed to each of a set of devices. The distribution of the battery power to each of the devices is then monitored. The distribution of power to a specific device is halted when the power distributed to the specific device reaches the maximum of the proportion of the entered battery power to be distributed to the specific device.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention present a search query suggestion to a user. In one embodiment a portion of a search query is received from a user. At least one search query suggestion is identified from a set of search query suggestions corresponding to the portion of the search query. At least one video frame is identified from at least video file associated with the at least one search query suggestion. The at least one search query suggestion and the at least one video frame is presented to the user.

Abstract: A functional description is of a report to be formulated and then run against a database. Report keywords and relationships among the report keywords are extracted from the functional description of the report, using an ontology related to data contained in the database. The report keywords and the relationships among the report keywords are processed or profiled against a data dictionary of the database, such as by performing text mining, to identify particular tables and columns of the database that contain the data needed for the report. The particular tables and columns are a technical description of the report that facilitates formulation of the report. The technical description can also include representative structured query language (SQL) statements and relationships among the identified tables.

The subset of bookmarks is analyzed according to a specification for constructing a categorization rule, to find information of a type corresponding to the bookmark. The categorization rule is constructed, to personalize a categorization of TV content according to a custom-categorization, by using the information as a component in the categorization rule according to the specification. The specification specifies the type, which is a type of information that can participate in the categorization rule. The rule is sent to a TV content provider system, wherein the sending causes the TV content to be organized and presented according to the custom-categorization.
