Abstract: Methods and devices are disclosed for a separation device. A separation device includes a separation module having a separation membrane separating an interior of the separation module into a retentate compartment and a permeate compartment. The retentate compartment includes at least one retentate channel, a feed port fluidly coupled to the at least one retentate channel and a retentate port. The permeate compartment includes at least one permeate channel disposed within the permeate compartment and a permeate port fluidly coupled to the at least one permeate channel, a retentate collector fluidly connected to the retentate port. The device further includes a feed reservoir, a permeate reservoir, a fluidic gate located between the feed reservoir and the separation module, a vent located between the retentate channel and the permeate channel end adjacent the adjacent the retentate port and a pressure differential source applied across the separation module.

Abstract: An integrated security system operating over a network includes a network security controller coupled to the network having a relational database including portal objects and related resources represented in at least one table in the relational database. The system further includes at least one network node having a local database coupled to the network adapted to receive predetermined resource information from the relational database, an event generator coupled to the local database to provide at least one portal event in response to the predetermined resource information received by the local database, and a finite state portal controller coupled to the network and the event generator for providing at least one of an action and a global event in response to the at least one portal event.

Abstract: An arc welding system with image acquisition utilizing a non-planar beam of electro-magnetic radiation, such as, a hollow conical beam of light, to illuminate at least a portion of the welding object is disclosed. The conical beam of light is generated by impinging a light beam on the surface of a concave, cylindrical reflector having a longitudinal axis that preferably is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the welding torch. The light beam enters the concave cylindrical reflector through the hollow shaft of a motor. Rotation of the motor angularly positions the reflected light beam on the welding object. The illuminated portion of the object is imaged on an array of photosensitive elements to produce corresponding signals that are representative of the image on the array. These signals are used to obtain identification information concerning the welding object and guidance information for a plural axis manipulator that guides the welding torch tool along a welding seam.
