Abstract: A method of monitoring workflow performance includes selecting a workflow for a job in a production process environment, wherein the job corresponds to a job category. The method also may include accessing a knowledge base to automatically select a set of performance indicators that correspond to the job category. Process parameters corresponding to the production process are displayed, and at least a portion of the displayed process parameters include the selected performance indicators.

Abstract: A method and system renders a custom document by providing an interactive electronic portal that allows multiple users to communicate with each other via any number of communication types. The system selects content from the communications and stores the content in a content repository. When the system receives a request to retrieve selected content items from the repository, it assembles the selected content items into a structured document for publishing via a rendering device.

Abstract: A wireless workflow system for a print shop having multiple printing components includes a workflow controller and a positioning systems associated with each printing component. A wireless local area network provides communications between the workflow controller and each positioning system, such that each positioning system provides a relative position of the associated printing component to the workflow controller.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for printing variable information documents including processing a VI request which has a dynamic reference and uses a namespace and schema, wherein the dynamic reference specifies information to be integrated into a resolved document. The processing includes mapping between respective namespaces and schemas used by a plurality of data sources and the namespace and schema used by the VI request, and generating at least one query in accordance with the dynamic reference and the mapping. The data sources are queried using the generated at least one query. The resolved document is generated and printed, including integrating data received in response to the querying into the resolved document. The data source(s) to be queried may be selected based on a comparison of a type of information available from the plurality of data sources and a type of information requested via the dynamic references.

Abstract: Methods and systems for collaborative authoring and production include an interactive electronic portal, which can be provided in response to an input provided by a user via a data-processing apparatus, such that the interactive electronic portals offers the user a plurality of collaborative authoring and publishing services. The user via the data-processing apparatus, based upon a particular user input thereof, can select one or more collaborative authoring and publishing services. Thereafter, one or more of the collaborative authoring and publishing services can be implemented in response to the particular user input via the data-processing apparatus, thereby electronically providing the user with a complete publishing infrastructure support for collaborative authoring and publishing thereof.

A document production center receives a document identifier along with delivery address information, identifies a digital document based on the document identifier, makes an copy or prints a hard copy of the document, and delivers the copied or printed document to a delivery address based on the delivery address information.
