Abstract: The specification discloses a hand held surface shaping tool for shaping hardening filler applied to a work surface. The tool comprises an elongate blade member and an elongate blade holder. The blade member includes a serrated edge extending generally along its length for removing filler from the work surface when the blade is wiped across the hardened filler with the blade oriented generally perpendicular to its direction of movement. The holder has a length approximating the length of the blade member, and is configured to support the blade member substantially along its length in a predetermined fixed configuration. In one embodiment, the holder supports the blade in a bowed configuration so that the blade edge can be brought into engagement along its length with a concave or convex work surface by leaning the tool toward or away from the surface.
