  • Publication number: 20110012310
Abstract: A process for conducting a mixed martial arts event includes providing three or more fighters in a multi-sided, raised edge ring. The three or more fighters participate according to a first set of rules. Fighting continues until only two fighters remain. These two remaining fighters participate under an expanded set of rules that allow floor fighting. Each side of the ring includes a sloped transition region that terminates with a flat raised edge to create a raised region about the exterior of the ring which is elevated above the remaining portion of the fighting surface. Various microphones may be placed about the ring for recording sounds of the fight.

  • Publication number: 20060260954
Abstract: An improved device and method for the creation of acidic electrolyzed water is described. The device has an flow-through anode chamber and a static cathode chamber. The static cathode chamber contains a fixed amount of salt-containing electrolyte, which is renewed as needed. The flow rate of water through the anode is restricted to a range of about 5 to 40 ml per ampere of current passed through the electrode. Electrolyzed water flowing from the anode is diluted to obtain the desired concentration of hypochlorous acid, and is collected in a tank or other vessel. The electrolysis reaction is terminated when a preset amount of current has passed through the anode. Water circulation may be one pass or recycling. In a preferred embodiment, the membrane is anion-selective.

  • Publication number: 20060174134
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for the positive identification of an individual wishing to undertake a financial transaction over a telecommunication medium. Financial, fingerprint and image data of an individual are encrypted and stored on a smart card. A person offering the card for a financial transaction has a fingerprint taken from which an encryption key is determined and used to decrypt the fingerprint and image data held on the card. If the fingerprint data obtained from the person matches the fingerprint data of the individual stored on the card, then the image stored on the card is displayed for further identification of the person. Devices are described which enable this identification method to be used in conjunction with an EFTPOS terminal or similar.

  • Patent number: 6567762
Abstract: An apparatus, method and system extend the dynamic range measurements performed on a device under test. The apparatus and method compensate for the non-ideal characteristics of the measurement system elements. Further, the apparatus, method and system facilitate low-level distortion measurements and improve the accuracy of such measurements using a novel cancellation signal approach. The dynamic range extension apparatus has an input port for accepting an input test signal from a signal source and an output port for delivering an output signal to a measurement processor. The apparatus comprises a signal splitter at its input, a cancellation pathway, a test pathway and a signal combiner at its output. The system comprises a signal source that provides an input signal to the input of the apparatus and a measurement processor at the output of the apparatus. In the dynamic range extension apparatus, method and system, a signal from the input signal source is split by the signal splitter into two signals.

  • Patent number: 4926959
Abstract: An operator control for vehicle components includes drive and driven members respectively operating a power actuator and a mechanical drive for moving a vehicle component between its operative positions. The drive and driven members move as a unit between operative positions of the driven member corresponding to the operative positions of the component. The drive member is uncoupled from the driven member at the operative positions of the latter for independent movement to its operative positions which also correspond to the operative positions of the component. The drive and driven members respectively operate the power actuator and the mechanical drive at their respective operative positions.
