  • Patent number: 11986311
Abstract: A dermatoscope which can focus at a certain depth, e.g. below the top surface of the skin. Light sources are provided for creating shadows of a skin lesion and an image acquisition device to take images from which a 3D reconstruction can be made.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 30, 2016
Date of Patent: May 21, 2024
    Assignee: BARCO NV
Inventors: Geert Carrein, Tom Kimpe, Frederik Toune, Bart Diricx, Elie De Brauwer, Albert Xthona
  • Patent number: 11889979
Abstract: A dermatoscope or endoscope inspection device which can be calibrated at high accuracy to be able to focus at a certain depth, e.g. below the top surface of the skin. A calibration pattern is provided or can be located at a reference viewing surface of an inspection device such as a dermatoscope or endoscope. It is important for a dermatoscope to know with the best accuracy available at what absolute depth below the top of the skin the device is focused. The dermatoscope or endoscope inspection device includes focusing means and by knowing a relationship between a digital driving level which shifts the focus position of the focusing means and the corresponding absolute change in focus depth, it is possible to know how deep the device is focused in absolute terms below the top of the skin.

  • Patent number: 11336835
Abstract: Methods and/or systems and/or controllers for estimating an exposure time for an imaging device, especially for estimating exposure times that provide maximum saturation levels while keeping the image sensor operating within its linear range. The imaging device includes an external or embedded image sensor and an external or embedded light source. Such a device may be a dermatoscope, a laparoscope, an endoscope, a microscope, or any digital media devices such as mobile phones, tablets, laptops etc. The methods and/or systems and/or controllers can include an LED or OLED light source or any type of solid-state light source.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 4, 2019
Date of Patent: May 17, 2022
    Assignee: BARCO N.V.
Inventors: Gert Van Hoey, Bart Diricx
