  • Patent number: 10520724
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to an optically transparent visual display system that superimposes information onto the field of vision of a pilot or vehicle operator utilizing multiple wavelengths in order to extend the operator's range of vision. The display format may be presented on a head-up display (HUD) in a covert manner using near infra-red (NIR) light that is viewable with standard issue night vision goggles (NVGs) such as the AN/PVS-7, but not viewable to the unaided eye. Display information may originate from multiple wavelength sensors and illuminators for enhanced environmental and situational awareness that extend beyond the five human senses. Direct view displays, such as LCDs and instrument or vehicle lighting systems, may utilize NIR wavelengths that are viewable with NVGs but are not viewable to the unaided eye.

  • Publication number: 20160023604
Abstract: The instant application discloses, among other things, techniques to allow information from multiple devices to be displayed on a Head-Up Display, allowing a user to focus on safety while being distracted minimally, but still benefiting from having the multiple devices. Head-Up Display Controller may also display only important information, and use simple-to-understand symbology, which may allow a user to quickly and easily see and understand information on the Head-Up Display.

  • Patent number: 7158095
Abstract: An optically transparent, ghost-free visual display system that superimposes a virtual image comprising graphical or textual information onto a field of vision. Embodiments of the visual display system utilize illumination and optical components that introduce a virtual image onto a field of vision while minimally obstructing and/or attenuating other objects within the field of vision. Embodiments of the visual display system can be used in numerous applications, including head-up displays (“HUDs”) for automotive, tracked and rail-mounted vehicles, marine, aerospace applications, see-through speech prompt displays, and see-through projection displays.
