  • Patent number: 11974376
Abstract: The invention relates to a monitoring system (13) for monitoring electrical devices (A, B, C, D, K) like luminaires. An assignments providing unit (7) provides assignments between the electrical devices and behavior classes defining expected behaviors, wherein a deviation determination unit (9) determines a deviation a) between a monitored behavior of an electrical device assigned to a behavior class and an expected behavior defined by a behavior class and/or b) between a monitored behavior of an electrical device and a monitored behavior of another electrical device, wherein an output unit (10) provides an output depending on the determined deviation. The deviation can be indicative of a commissioning error, i.e., for instance, of an assignment of an electrical device to a wrong room within a building. The monitoring system can therefore allow for an automatic detection of commissioning errors in a building which may have thousands of electrical devices.

  • Patent number: 10985930
Abstract: The invention relates to a PoE system, which comprises a powered device (2) and a power sourcing device (1). The power sourcing device comprises one or more ports (12) and the powered device is connectable to a port of the power sourcing device by an electrical conductor (13) for conveying the sourced power along with data. The powered device comprises an interface for providing a measure of its energy consumption within the PoE system and, if it does not have the ability to measure its energy consumption, is adapted to negotiate with the power sourcing device whether the power sourcing device has the ability to measure the energy consumption of the powered device and to provide the measured energy consumption to the powered device for provision via the interface. This can make the PoE system more flexible and allow for a single “point of contact” for providing energy usage feedback.

  • Patent number: 10117314
Abstract: Lighting units, lighting systems, and methods are described herein for automatic and decentralized commissioning of a replacement lighting unit (140, 150, 250). In various embodiments, a replacement lighting unit may receive, from one or more remote lighting units over one or more communication networks, one or more identifiers associated with the one or more remote lighting units. The replacement lighting unit may also receive, from at least one of the one or more remote lighting units over the one or more communication networks, the lighting operation parameters associated with an inoperative lighting unit. The replacement lighting unit may then selectively energize one or more light sources (258) associated with the replacement lighting unit to emit light having one or more properties indicated in the lighting operation parameters associated with the inoperative lighting unit.

  • Patent number: 9826601
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems are described herein for harmonizing firmware among lighting units of a lighting system. In some embodiments, a lighting unit controller of a lighting unit may be configured to: broadcast, to a plurality of remote lighting units of the lighting system, data indicative of a version of the firmware used locally; receive, directly or indirectly from at least one remote lighting unit of the lighting system, data indicative of a version of firmware used by the at least one remote lighting unit; determine that the version of firmware used by the at least one remote lighting unit is different from a version of the firmware stored in the memory; and take remedial action to harmonize the firmware stored in the memory with the firmware used by the remote lighting unit.
