  • Patent number: 5682656
Abstract: Method to continuously merge two multifilament yarns supplied from bobbins on a creel by merging and entangling the two yarns in a commingling air jet and supplying directly to a warper to form a warp beam.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 21, 1996
Date of Patent: November 4, 1997
    Assignee: Milliken Research Corporation
    Inventor: Bascum G. Lesley
  • Patent number: 5358198
Abstract: A container for a light-sensitive strip material having a warp knit, weft inserted fabric provided in the opening thereof to prevent access of light to the light-sensitive material in the container. The warp knit, weft inserted fabric is dyed, dried, napped, sheared and heat set prior to mounting in the opening thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 15, 1993
Date of Patent: October 25, 1994
    Assignee: Milliken Research Corporation
    Inventor: Bascum G. Lesley
  • Patent number: 4813161
Abstract: A double plush pile fabric for use in shoe construction which will cushion the pressure exerted on the foot as the person wearing the shoe walks or runs in normal manner.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 23, 1985
Date of Patent: March 21, 1989
    Assignee: Milliken Research Corporation
    Inventor: Bascum G. Lesley
  • Patent number: 4698986
Abstract: An improved warp knitting machine employing compound needles and an interconnected trick-sinker mechanism which maintains a fixed relationship with the knitting needles and tends to hold the knitted fabric in line with the back guide bar to lessen the stress on the knitting needles. Each of the guide bars include a hollow guide tube to guide the warp yarn to a point closely adjacent the top of the knitting needle to reduce the necessary vertical stroke of the knitting needles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 22, 1986
Date of Patent: October 13, 1987
    Assignee: Milliken Research Corporation

  • Patent number: 4610619
Abstract: Pile fabric molding apparatus which incorporates a plurality of pin like members to allow the pile of the fabric being molded to pass therebetween while the pins contact the substrate of the pile fabric to maintain it at a position spaced from the mold member.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 30, 1985
Date of Patent: September 9, 1986
    Assignee: Milliken Research Corporation

  • Patent number: 3952555
Abstract: Warp knit denim fabrics wherein differentially colored or colorable yarn sets or groups are knit together in a fabric having a dominant, typically darker, color forming a background wherein flecks of a less dominant, typically lighter, color are present substantially uniformly throughout the surface of the fabric, thereby giving a fabric whose visual appearance is similar to woven denim fabrics, but which possesses superior fabric qualities. After knitting, the differentially colorable yarn sets may be dyed to selectively color one or more of the yarn sets. The denim effect may be enhanced by sanding or napping the denim surface of the fabric to abrade and/or break the dominant color yarns and blend the lighter color therewith. The fabric may be thereafter calendered, and finished in conventional manner.
