  • Publication number: 20130225744
Abstract: A method for preparing an aqueous based coating system, and coating systems made thereby, for coating onto paper and/or paperboard for providing barrier to liquid, moisture vapor, oil and grease including a pigment and a polymer emulsion system or natural based binding system. One alternative of the method includes surface treating a pigment to form a pigment system and mixing a polymer emulsion system or natural based binding system with the pigment system. Another alternative of the method includes mixing a pigment and polymer emulsion system or natural based binding system and hydrophobizing the polymer emulsion system or natural based binding system by adding silanes, siloxanes, siloxane/silicone resin blends, or their carbon based analogs.

  • Publication number: 20130195731
Abstract: Zeolite catalysts and systems and methods for preparing and using zeolite catalysts having the CHA crystal structure are disclosed. The catalysts can be used to remove nitrogen oxides from a gaseous medium across a broad temperature range and exhibit hydrothermal stable at high reaction temperatures. The zeolite catalysts include a zeolite carrier having a silica to alumina ratio from about 15:1 to about 256:1 and a copper to alumina ratio from about 0.25: 1 to about 1:1.

  • Publication number: 20130174473
Abstract: In an above-ground termite station for detecting and controlling termites above ground in an operating configuration of the termite station, a container of the termite station defines an interior space and is at least in part configured for abutting against and being mounted on an above-ground mounting surface. The container is configurable between a closed configuration and an open configuration in which the interior space of the container is accessible while the container is mounted on the mounting surface. A cartridge is sized and configured for insertion in and removal from the interior space of the container and is generally an aggregation member, a bait matrix separate from the aggregation member, and a holder at least in part holding the aggregation member and bait matrix in assembly with the holder for positioning of the cartridge relative to the interior space of the container as a single unit.

  • Publication number: 20130174472
Abstract: An above-ground termite station includes a container having a base, a side, and a lid together defining an interior space of the container. The side has at least two peripheral openings in spaced relationship with each other about a periphery of the container. Each of the peripheral openings is at least partially closed by a respective access closure that can be selectively removed to provide access to the interior space of the container through the peripheral opening. The container is mountable on an above-ground mounting surface with the base in generally opposed relationship with and abutting against the mounting surface. The lid is positionable between a closed position and an open position to permit access to the interior space of the container. A cartridge is sized and configured for insertion in and removal from the interior space of the container.

  • Publication number: 20130156670
Abstract: Air treatment catalyst systems and methods for treating the air in the aircraft cabin environment are provided. The catalyst system and method remove ozone, volatile organic compounds, NOx and other pollutants. The catalyst system used to treat the cabin air comprises a plurality of discrete substrates having an ozone abatement catalyst loaded thereon and arranged in a stacked configuration between a source of the air stream and the passenger cabin, the at least the first two substrates adjacent the source of the air stream comprise an iron-based alloy.

  • Publication number: 20130108577
Abstract: A composition in compacted form for use for termite monitoring and control comprises a cellulose material which may be purified cellulose or microcrystalline cellulose as a base bait, the composition being compacted to an optimum density of not less than approximately 1.033 g/cc. Also disclosed is a method for monitoring and controlling termite infestations which comprises the steps of a) preparing such a composition; b) placing the composition in a bait station; c) monitoring the station at periodic time intervals for termites; and d) upon observing termite infestation in the bait station, replacing the above composition with a bait composition containing a termite killing agent.
