The measuring surface (M) is adapted such that it can be captured by an optical measuring device, and the measuring element coupling surface (X) is adapted for mating with the head receiving surface (A).     Abstract: A method for designing a dental restoration of a type comprising a dental implant, a dental super structure, and a dental abutment for connecting the implant and the super structure. The method comprises the steps of retrieving a predetermined computer model of an abutment, using a user-created computer representation of a surface of the dental implant for providing a computer representation of an implant receiving surface, and for providing the predetermined abutment model with the implant receiving surface representation to provide a user-adapted abutment model. The method may help minimizing the time and costs in the preparation of a dental restoration.
