Publication number: 20220387465Abstract: HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) has been available for nearly a decade. Patients can take a pill comprising of multiple antiviral agents that, if exposed to HIV, will prevent a permanent viral infection with an extremely high success rate. However, the use of PrEP antivirals has been linked to higher rates of STIs including HSV-1, HSV-2, Infectious Mononucleosis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomanias, and syphilis. In particular, Herpes Simplex Viruses 1 and 2 can cause symptoms including oral or genital sores, while mono, caused by the Epstein-Barr Virus, can cause prolonged sickness. This disclosure utilizes two or more antiviral agents as a multi-use therapy for both suppressing a chronic herpesvirus infection while preventing an HIV infection. With this therapy, the odds of both acquiring HIV or spreading a herpesvirus are greatly reduced during human contact.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2022Publication date: December 8, 2022Inventor: Ben Alexander

Publication number: 20220126034Abstract: My powder inhalers are described. The dry powder inhaler includes an air inlet, a reservoir and an airway assembly. A mouthpiece airway is connected to a first airway of the airway assembly. An airway head is attached to the airway assembly and it extends into the reservoir cavity. In certain embodiments, the airway head has a sharpened or beveled edge. At least one airway assembly opening is present in the airway assembly for connecting the reservoir cavity to the first airway. Methods for dispensing dry powder into an airway of a dry powder inhaler and inhaling dry powder from a dry powder inhaler is also disclosed. Embodiments of a dry powder inhaler having a two-stage air movement are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 13, 2020Publication date: April 28, 2022Applicant: PHILIP MORRIS PRODUCTS S.A.Inventors: Robin Craig Cocker, Christopher Iain Davidson, Steve Han, Ben Alexander King, Paul Mutti, Alex Stenzler, James Tibbatts

Publication number: 20210402113Abstract: The present invention provides dry powder inhaler (DPI) devices (100) for dispensing dry powder and methods for using the same. The DPI devices feature vortex mechanisms for directing air in a turbulent manner sufficient to entrain an amount of a dry powder dose for delivery into a user's lungs. The DPI devices feature replaceable dry powder cartridges (200). The DPI devices also feature a retractable configuration for storage and for accidental dispensing of dry powder. The DPI devices dispense dry powder in controlled dosages.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 13, 2020Publication date: December 30, 2021Applicant: PHILIP MORRIS PRODUCTS S.A.Inventors: Robin Craig Cocker, Ben Alexander King, Christopher Iain Davidson, Paul Mutti, Alex Stenzler, Steve Han, James Tibbatts

Patent number: 10716904Abstract: The present invention provides in part dry powder inhaler (DPI) devices for dispensing dry powder and methods for using the same. The DPI devices feature exchangeable cartridges having drum mechanisms that prepare metered doses of dry powder, and are able to direct air in a turbulent manner sufficient to entrain and deagglomerate a dose of dry powder for delivery into a user's lungs. The DPI devices feature a reservoir of dry powder advanced by a plunger, as well as a gauge that advances with the plunger to indicate the amount of dry powder remaining in the reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2017Date of Patent: July 21, 2020Assignee: Philip Morris Products S.A.Inventors: James Tibbatts, Robin Craig Cocker, Ben Alexander King, Christopher Iain Davidson, Paul Mutti, Alex Stenzler, Steve Han

Patent number: 10621537Abstract: A method of traffic flow management at a terminal is described which comprises establishing a remotely accessible database containing a schedule of time-slots available for delivering or picking-up containers from a terminal with a truck. The schedule is accessible to trucking operator who can modify the schedule to mark individual time-slots as reserved. Once a time-slot is reserved, it is identified as such so that the time-slot ceases to be available to other trucking operators. The database also stores contact data to enable messages relating to a reserved time-slots be sent to a truck driver.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2013Date of Patent: April 14, 2020Inventor: Eran Ben-Alexander
