  • Patent number: 9816271
Abstract: A composite flooring system, and method of manufacture, including a multi-element flooring diaphragm including a plurality of self-spacing surface elements mounted above a semi-rigid substrate surface using a plurality of flexible adhesive support cushions that define an air space between the multi-element flooring diaphragm and the semi-rigid substrate surface, wherein outer edge surfaces of the self-spacing surface elements are beveled and flexible surface joints of v-shaped cross-section formed between abutting self-spacing surface elements, and wherein the combination of rigid or semi-rigid self-spacing surface elements and the flexible surface joints form a substantially waterproof diaphragm as a finished surface.

  • Publication number: 20160369503
Abstract: A modular substrate system for use in the support of a flooring surface including a plurality of elongate substrate members which can be rapidly assembled to provide a semi-rigid support surface for a floor. Various flooring elements can be adhered to the semi-rigid support surface using an adhesive to, in cooperation with the modular substrate system, provide an enhanced composite rigidity to the assembled floor. The substrate member itself includes an upper surface, side surfaces, and lateral flange portions, the lateral flange portions of the substrate members maintain adjacent substrate members in parallel spaced apart relationship to each other defining substrate channels therebetween. The substrate channels strengthen the assembled modular substrate system and provide routes of egress for water from below the flooring surface disposed thereon.

  • Patent number: 7222440
Abstract: A resilient anti-fatigue layer shaped to fit under the sole and heel of a shoe of a wearer includes a mat of fibers heat bonded together with a tight surface against the sole and a loose surface against the floor. The mat of fibers includes a generally flat portion shaped to match the bottom of the shoe and a plurality of tabs formed of the mat at the edges of the bottom portion and projecting beyond the edges of the bottom portion with at least one tab at the front, two tabs at the rear and at least one tab at each side, with each tab having attached thereto a respective strap. The straps provide a on each side a single strap which extends from the front side connection tab, through slots provided in a toe connection member to the rear side tabs, to the heel tabs and over the foot.

  • Publication number: 20050268484
Abstract: Work footwear includes a work shoe and a resilient anti-fatigue layer shaped to fit under the sole and heel of a shoe of a wearer with a cover member elastically attached to the shoe to trap the layer therebetween. The layer is separate from the cover for ready replacement. When used in a contaminated area the cover member has a peripheral wall to seal the area between the cover and the shoe against penetration of moisture. When used in an uncontaminated environment, the layer may be received in a cupped shape of the cover member with elastic strap portions engaging over the foot to hold the cover and layer in place.
