  • Patent number: 6306120
Abstract: A device and method of presenting an accurately controlled small volume of a Mitomycin solution to human eye tissues lining a conjunctival space created during surgery performed to correct glaucoma, using an absorbent pad mounted on one end of an elongated holder enabling insertion into the space. The pad is capable of retaining the Mitomycin solution after first being saturated with the Mitomycin solution prior to insertion and only very slowly releasing a consistently predictable small volume of solution directly onto the surrounding eye tissues. The holder has a portion to which the absorbent pad is attached, which is curved into conformity with the eyeball curvature to achieve better tissue contact. A handle allows insertion and removal from the space.
