  • Publication number: 20090069951
Abstract: A method and a system determine the load transferred from a semi-trailer to a first axle of a towing vehicle which has at least one further, second axle. The semi-trailer is partly supported by the towing vehicle at a “fifth wheel”. A first value representing the load transferred from the semi-trailer to the second axle is determined by a load sensor and a second value representing the position of the “fifth wheel” in relation to said axles are also determined. Based on these first and second values a value representing the load transferred from the semi-trailer to the first axle is calculated by a calculator. The calculation may be based on the equation L1*d1=L2*d2 or L1=L2*d2/d1.

  • Patent number: 7469175
Abstract: Method and device for calculating chassis height of a vehicle that has at least three air-suspended wheel axles (2, 3, 4). The device includes a control unit and two level sensors (9, 10). The control unit detects the chassis height at the front axle (2) via a first level sensor (9) and at the forward rear axle (3) via a second level sensor (10), and the control unit calculates the chassis height at the rearmost wheel axle (4). An object of the disclosure is to protect the rear axle installation with as few level sensors as possible.

  • Patent number: 7223206
Abstract: Motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine, a transmission and at least a first and a second brake device. The first brake device acts directly on at least some of the wheels of the vehicle and the second brake device acts on the driving wheels of the vehicle via the transmission and is arranged before the clutch device of the transmission. The first brake device is activated when the second brake device is in an activated state and a shifting operation is started.

  • Publication number: 20060113833
Abstract: Method and apparatus for distributing brake torque between at least a first and a second braking device on a motor vehicle having at least two wheel pairs. The first braking device is a friction brake which acts on at least one wheel pair and the second braking device acts on at least one driven wheel pair. The distribution of brake torque between the first braking device and the second braking device takes account of brake torque required and also the maximum brake torque the first braking device and the second braking device can deliver. The distribution of brake torque takes place when the vehicle is driven with a cruise control function.

  • Patent number: 6431557
Abstract: Apparatus for adjusting the height of a vehicle frame on a vehicle is disclosed including a pneumatic suspension system for adjusting the elevation of the vehicle frame, and a controller for controlling the pneumatic suspension system, the controller being adapted to be set in a first mode corresponding to normal driving of the vehicle and a second mode corresponding to parking or marshalling of the vehicle, whereby when the controller is in the first mode, the pneumatic suspension system permits adjustment of the vehicle frame within a first range and when the controller is in the second mode the pneumatic suspension system permits adjustment of the vehicle frame within the second range, the first range being greater than the second range, and the second range being within the first range.

  • Patent number: 5076391
Abstract: The invention relates to a bearing arrangement for a propeller shaft (11, 12) which functions to drive at least one rear axle of a commercial vehicle, in which at least one running axle is mounted forwardly of the foremost driven rear axle but rearwardly of the forward end of the propeller shaft. The bearing arrangement includes a bearing housing (17) which is mounted on a component (13) in the vehicle and carries at least one bearing for the propeller shaft (11, 12), which includes two parts (11, 12) which are mutually connected at the bearing arrangement. According to the invention, the bearing housing (17) is mounted on the running axle (3), or on one of the running axles. A separate propeller-shaft intermediate part (18) is journaled on the bearing housing (17) and each of the ends of this intermediate part are provided with connecting devices (19) for connection to the two parts (11, 12) of the propeller shaft.
