Patent number: 11696990Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide automated circuit disconnection monitoring such as for a respiratory apparatus or system. Disconnection of a patient circuit, including a patient interface and air delivery circuit, may be detected and a message or alarm activated. In some versions, detecting occurrences of circuit disconnection event(s), such as by a processor, may be based on an instantaneous disconnection parameter as a function of a disconnection setting. The disconnection setting may be determined based on patient circuit type. The instantaneous disconnection parameter may be determined from detected pressure and flow rate, and may be, for example, a conductance value or an impedance value. Disconnection events may be qualified by one or more detected respiratory indicators.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2020Date of Patent: July 11, 2023Inventors: Dion Charles Chewe Martin, Clancy John Dennis, Benjamin John Leavens, Etienne Veschambre, Stuart Wishart

Publication number: 20230060994Abstract: Disclosed are apparatus, systems and devices for providing modular connectivity to a respiratory therapy device. Certain forms relate to an apparatus for supplying a flow of breathable gas at positive pressure for respiratory therapy comprising a pressure generator in a housing, at least one electrical connector to connect to a connectivity module, and a cavity for receiving the connectivity module. Different forms of connectivity module may be provided. This allows for flexibility of connectivity in a respiratory device while allowing for simple installation and removal of the connectivity module.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 22, 2020Publication date: March 2, 2023Inventors: Benjamin Matthew AUSTIN, Benjamin John LEAVENS, Nan Hai WU

Publication number: 20230036784Abstract: An apparatus is provided to change the absolute humidity of a flow of air for delivery to an entrance of the airways of a patient, the change being compared to the absolute humidity of ambient air. The apparatus has a reservoir configured to hold a volume of liquid. A heating element creates vapour from the liquid. A chamber is provided to mix the flow of air with the vapour. The apparatus has a body having a first wall structure with a chamber inlet port. A closure element having an air inlet port for pneumatically connecting to a source of the flow of air is secured to the body to provide a sealed gas flow path between the air inlet port and the chamber inlet port, and a liquid trap in the gas flow path.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2020Publication date: February 2, 2023Inventors: Simon Robert CORK, Hayat CHAMTIE, Bing LUO, Tzu-Chin YU, Benjamin John LEAVENS

Publication number: 20220244839Abstract: A medical therapy device may include a user interface (6100) such as a combined touchscreen/dial user interface, for input of operation parameters. The user interface may include a dial and a touchscreen to display a subset of a list of items. Each item may represent a parameter of the medical device. The displayed subset may include a pre-selected item that may provide a pre-selection indication for a particular item. Rotation of the dial may move the pre-selection indication so it may change between items on the displayed subset. In response to a swipe gesture on the touchscreen, the displayed subset may scroll through the list. Also, the swipe gesture may cause pushing of the pre-selection indication against a boundary of the display such as in the direction of the swipe gesture such that the item associated with the pre-selection indication remains part of the displayed subset.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2020Publication date: August 4, 2022Applicant: ResMed Pty LtdInventors: Benjamin John LEAVENS, Vladimir ILIC
