  • Patent number: 9698664
Abstract: A magnetic power generator (10) includes at least one rotor assembly (12) that is positionable at selected angles relative to the horizontal. The rotor assembly includes a plurality of spokes (20) emanating from a central rotational axis (26), with high-performance magnetic coils (22) mounted on the outer end portions of the spokes. The rotor assembly (12) is drivingly connected to AC/DC generator (32), the output of which is routed to a power transfer switching unit (40) which outputs electricity as either AC or DC and at various desired voltages. A programmable system controller (24) controls the polarity of the magnetic coils (22) mounted on the ends of the spokes (20), as well as the operation of the generator (32) so as to power and constantly change the polarity of the magnetic coils as the rotor assembly rotates, thereby to cause the rotor assembly to rotate by virtue of interaction with the Earth's magnetic field.

  • Publication number: 20090232625
Abstract: A heave or motion compensation system (100) is employed on the crane (20) to compensate for the heave being experienced by a ship (22) on which the crane is mounted. The heave compensation system includes a motion reference unit (102) mounted on a distal end portion of crane arm (36) to measure the movement (acceleration) thereat. This information is transmitted to a programmable logic control processor (104) to control the operation of a winch (50) carried by the crane thereby to pay out or reel in the load line (32) of the crane. The distal end of the load line is connectable to a load being lowered or lifted by the crane.

  • Patent number: 5045034
Abstract: An antibacklash gear drive system including an internal ring gear (46) engaged with a pinion gear (76) powered by a motor drive assembly (48). The motor drive assembly together with the pinion gear is mounted on an eccentric plate (58) so that the rotational axis (72) of the pinion gear is offset from the central axis (66) of the eccentric plate (58). The eccentric plate is adapted to be rotated about its central axis (66) by an adjustment mechanism (86) whereby the distance between the rotational axis (72) of the pinion gear and the rotational axis of the ring gear is varied to increase or decrease, as desired, the engagement of the teeth of the ring and pinion gears thereby to increase or decrease the backlash between the two gears.

  • Patent number: 4284000
Abstract: An apparatus for tightly compacting material within a wheeled, open top container including a frame composed of a stationary base and a overhead section disposed above the container and coupled to the frame base section by a plurality of telescoping columns which permit the overhead section to raise and lower relative to the container. A plurality of nominally relaxed tension lines extend downwardly from the frame overhead section to interconnect with the upper rim portion of the container. The apparatus also includes a pressing head suspended below the frame overhead section by a pair of spaced apart hydraulic cylinders which are retractable to lift the pressing head to an elevation above the container or extendible to force the pressing head downwardly into the container. As the pressing head pushes against the material within the container, a reaction force is generated which initially causes the frame overhead section to lift upwardly until the tension lines are drawn taut.
