  • Patent number: 7158043
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for adaptively tracking the position of an entry portal, such as an automatic garage door. In accordance with the present invention a transmitter assembly senses and transmits the sensed position of the door position in a periodic manner at a predetermined transmit interval. A receiver assembly including a receiver module receives the transmitted door position signals and synchronizes the activation of the receiver module with the transmit interval such that the receiver receives the door position signals transmitted at the predetermined transmit interval. A receiver output indicator is then updated in accordance with the entry portal position determined by the received door position signal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 26, 2005
Date of Patent: January 2, 2007
Inventors: Ronnie L. Kirkland, Benjamin M. Rubin, Percy F. Shadwell, Jr.

  • Publication number: 20020180600
Abstract: A remote monitoring system for determining and transmitting information indicating the status of a door movable to a plurality of positions or alternatively, an alarm system includes sensor for determining each position of a door and providing output signals indicative of each position detected, a transmitter responsive to the output signal and repetitively transmitting a broadcast signal indicative of the output signal received, a first timer operatively connected to the transmitter means for selectively controlling periodic transmission of the broadcast signal in accord with first time intervals as established by the first timer means. A receiver receives the broadcast signal and includes a second timer for periodically energizing the receiver at predetermined second time intervals as established by the second timer to allow for reception of the broadcast signal.

  • Patent number: 5682264
Abstract: The universal microscope drape is based on a positioning system that includes a different adapter member for each differently manufactured microscope and a universal positioning member of a microscope drape that engages each different adapter member. The microscope drape positioning member is attached to the microscope drape cover member to position the microscope drape cover member in a predetermined orientation on the microscope. The adapter member is interchangeable with a lens unit that is detachably secured to a microscope. The lens unit, upon removal, is joined to the adapter member to permit resecurement of the lens unit to the microscope when the adapter member is joined to the microscope. Since the adapter member has a universal engagement portion that is engagable with the universal positioning member of the microscope drape, the same microscope drape can be used to cover differently manufactured microscopes of the same general size and shape.

  • Patent number: 5467223
Abstract: The adapter member for a microscope cooperates with a universal microscope drape having a universal positioning member. The adapter member is detachably secured to the lens housing of a microscope in tandem with a lens unit located in the lens housing. The adapter member is free from connection with the lens unit and can be installed without disassembling the lens housing. In one embodiment of the invention, the adapter member is threaded to the lens housing and in another embodiment of the invention the adapter member is secured to the lens housing with set screws. The adapter member has a universal engagement portion that is engagable with the universal positioning member of the universal microscope drape. A different adapter member is provided for each differently manufactured microscope but each different adapter member has the same universal engagement portion. Thus the same microscope drape can be used to cover differently manufactured microscopes of the same general size and shape.

  • Patent number: 4735831
Abstract: A method and applicator for applying a liquid material aftertreatment to a strand. Particularly, the strand is glass fibers or filaments and the aftertreatment is an antistat. The strand lightly touches the applicator at an orifice sufficiently small so that the strand retains essentially all of the liquid antistat. In a preferred embodiment, the orifice angles toward the direction of strand movement.
