Patent number: 11831172Abstract: In retrodirective wireless power delivery environments wireless power receivers generate and send beacon signals that are received by multiple antennas of a wireless power transmission system. The beacon signals provide the charger with timing information for wireless power transfers and also indicate directionality of the incoming signal. As discussed herein, the directionality information is employed when transmitting in order to focus energy (e.g., power wave delivery) on individual wireless power receiver clients. Techniques are described herein for reducing the burden of sampling the beacon signals across the multiple antennas and determining the directionality of the incoming wave. In some embodiments, the techniques leverage previously calculated values to simplify the receiver sampling.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2021Date of Patent: November 28, 2023Assignee: Ossia Inc.Inventors: Hatem Zeine, Dale Mayes, Benjamin Renneberg

Publication number: 20200091773Abstract: Systems and methods are described for receiving wireless power and providing wired power. In some embodiments, a wirelessly chargeable battery apparatus comprises a housing and one or more antennas situated within the housing. The antennas are configured to receive wireless radio frequency (RF) power from a wireless charging system. One or more electronic circuit boards (PCBs) situated within the housing are included, and the one or more electronic circuit boards are configured to convert the received wireless RF power to direct current (DC) power. The apparatus also comprises one or more batteries configured to store the DC power and a port configured to couple with a cable external to the housing and to provide stored DC power from the one or more batteries to the cable.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2019Publication date: March 19, 2020Applicant: Ossia Inc.Inventors: Benjamin Renneberg, Dale Mayes, Fady El-Rukby, Hatem Zeine

Publication number: 20190148990Abstract: Techniques are described for authenticating device in wireless power delivery environments. In some embodiments, a request for energy delivery is received from devices. The request may include an identifier, e.g., a client identification (ID). The charger may query a remotely located authentication platform via a network with the client ID. The authentication platform compares the client ID against devices that have been registered within the system. If the device is properly provisioned, the authentication platform may return an acceptance of authentication to the charger. In addition to device authentication, the current disclosure covers the ability to control the environment within a wireless network, and perform system diagnostics by monitoring the network environment.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 9, 2019Publication date: May 16, 2019Applicant: Ossia Inc.Inventors: Hatem Zeine, Benjamin Renneberg, Fady El-Rukby

Patent number: 10284020Abstract: Techniques are described for accumulating data regarding the charging environment and power delivery efficiency at various regions in the environment under various transmission conditions. In some embodiments, this data may be utilized to generate efficient and sophisticated power transmission schedules; however, this data may also be leveraged for the manipulation of the standing waves within the environment. This allows for two discrete and powerful applications: creation of null zones and conversely the generation of high power regions. These regions may also be referred to as ‘power nulls’ and ‘energy balls’ respectively.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2017Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignee: Ossia Inc.Inventors: Hatem Zeine, Dale Mayes, Benjamin Renneberg, Anas Alfarra
