  • Patent number: 5450888
Abstract: A security screen includes a rectangular frame including a top member containing a screen reel comprising a rotatable core with a length of electrically non-conductive screen material affixed thereto. The screen contains parallel electrical conductors therein running lengthwise, and transverse conductors interconnect selected pairs of the lengthwise conductors to form therewith a single continuous electrical path which is interrupted if the screen is cut. A latchable drawbar is affixed along the lower edge of the screen, so that the screen can be drawn closed, against the bias provided by two torsion springs. One end of each spring is connected to the reel's core; its other end is attached to a stationary stub shaft, which serves as a terminal for connection to an alarm. The springs are electrically joined to opposite ends of the screen's conductor path, thus serving as non-sliding rotary electrical joints.

  • Patent number: 4815207
Abstract: A clamp to axially hold small coaxial cable (10) of a type having a soft dielectric core (16) includes a rigid element (30) having a groove (32) to receive the cable laid therein and an elastomeric element (4) having a projection (42) shaped to fit partially around the cable and along the length thereof and be compressed to preclude movement of said cable axially while minimizing cable core deformation to allow the cable to be worked upon relative to stripping and termination. A method using clamps fore and aft of stripping blades (50-52) clamped on the cable embraces holding the cable and the blades stationary while moving one clamp (30M-42M) axially to remove the cable sheath and foil.

  • Patent number: 4779335
Abstract: A tool for crimping electrical terminals (10) to terminate conductive wires (20) by inelastic deformation of portions of the terminal includes a motor driven cam (42) connected to toggle linkage (48) adapted to drive a double acting linkage (30,32) to effect die displacement against the terminal through a disk (78) mounted for rotary movement in a race (80), the double acting linkage providing an enhanced mechanical advantage in the high force requirement zone of die displacement.

  • Patent number: 4766669
Abstract: Stripping of the outer jacket of miniaturized coaxial cable is achieved through the use of stripping blades which have surfaces dulled to preclude cutting the cable core or ground conductor and yet sever the cable and metalized film from the cable core. The stripping blades have an offset to eliminate the need to orient the cable relative to the ground wire with the dull surfaces having a radius to substantially deform the cable with the cable then being pulled to effect removal of the outer jacket and metallized film. The length of stripping accommodates axial elongation of the core with excess core subsequently being trimmed, thereby resulting in a desired stripped length.

  • Patent number: 4763410
Abstract: A method for preparing braided coaxial cable for termination is taught wherein a segment of the cable outer jacket is defined by an annular slit, lightly clamped and axially displaced, then clamped firmly and axially displaced in a reverse sense to cause the cable braid beneath such jacket to be displaced radially outwardly. The braid so displaced is then trimmed and removed with a further segment of the cable being defined by an annular slit which for the segment is axially displaced to cover over the cut ends of the braid, leaving the coaxial cable prepared for termination.

  • Patent number: 4719697
Abstract: Apparatus and method for preparing end of coaxial cable having foamed TFE primary insulation comprises steps of engaging first blades to make a first cut completely through the outer insulation and braid, then withdrawing the blades before making a second cut which penetrates only the outer insulation, then pulling the cable against the second blades to remove slugs of outer insulation and braid as an unit. Braid is subsequently flared by rotating a tool against the exposed braid, and primary insulation is axially compressed to expose the signal conductor.
