  • Patent number: 3999477
Abstract: The press blocking and control system of this invention embodies a press ram blocking apparatus and circuitry and control means for moving a ram blocking member into ram stopping position thereunder upon the occurrence of one or more events justifying blocking of the pressed ram, to prevent injury or damage to personnel and equipment which would expectedly result from inadvertence, error or accident. The control circuitry for the blocking device is connected to and in association with conventional press control circuitry for the press ram actuating mechanism. For normal press operation, the ram blocking member is retained in retracted position by its actuating apparatus and control circuitry.
