  • Patent number: 9917347
Abstract: A hinge barrel antenna system includes a first hinge device and a second hinge device that couple a chassis base to a display device. A hinge barrel extends between the first hinge device and the second hinge device. A hinge barrel support member is included in the hinge barrel and defines a first slot that extends through the hinge barrel support member. A feed structure is coupled to the hinge barrel support member adjacent the first slot by a circuit board. The first slot is dimensioned such that the combination of the first slot and the feed structure emit radio waves having a first predetermined frequency when the feed structure is activated.

  • Patent number: 9893447
Abstract: An information handling system may include a first member, a second member hingedly coupled to the first member via a hinge, a coaxial cable, and a grounding jacket. The coaxial cable may have a ground sheath and a signal wire internal to the ground sheath, wherein an axis of the signal wire is substantially parallel to a rotational axis of the hinge and wherein the coaxial cable comprises an exposed portion in which the ground sheath is exposed externally to the coaxial cable. The grounding jacket may be mechanically coupled to the first member and the second member, wherein the grounding jacket may be configured to mechanically support the coaxial cable and electrically couple to an electrically conductive portion of at least one of the first member and the second member and to the ground sheath at the exposed portion in order to create an electrically conductive path between the ground sheath and the electrically conductive portion via the grounding jacket.

  • Publication number: 20160344456
Abstract: Systems and methods may be implemented with MIMO antenna architectures (e.g., such as 2×2, 3×3, 4×4, etc.) of a given mobile information handling system to selectively use dynamic MIMO configuration and/or reconfiguration to select only a subset of the available multiple antenna elements or all of the available multiple antenna elements for receive and/or transmit operation based on the interference characteristics of the given mobile information handling system and/or based on the current radio frequency (RF) band currently being used for wireless communications by the mobile information handling system.
