  • Patent number: 4711234
Abstract: The invention relates to a retention pin for fixing a support plate or other prosthesis on bone tissue. The pin is made of a material which is bio-compatible with human tissue and comprises two half-pins each having a half-head for bearing against the prosthesis and a retention shank projecting therefrom, with the outline of each shank being semi-cylindrical and with the two half-pins being generally symmetrical to each other about a radial separation plane passing at least partially along the axis of the pin and extending at least as far as the inside faces of the half-heads from which the respective retention shanks project.

  • Patent number: 4705694
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for making bioactive coatings on osseous prostheses, wherein a mist of particles containing calcium ions and orthophosphate ions is made from solutions and said mist is brought into contact with a substrate (notably an implant) made of inert material under such operational conditions that a hydroxyapatite coating is formed by reaction on the hot surface of said inert substrate, said process being characterized by the fact that the operating conditions to make the deposit are selected so that a liquid film forms on the hot surface of said substrate during the deposition.

  • Patent number: 4544599
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing elastically deformable articles constituted of a textile substrate of carbon fibers which are elastically deformable with respect to an at rest shape, wherein a flexible structure of carbon fibers is used, a predetermined form being set for this textile by means of shaping tools, and said textile being retained in said at rest shape by forming around the said fibers a thin coating of rough laminar pyrolytic carbon deposited by chemical vapor infiltration at high temperature without bonding of the fibers one to another. The textile can be given a flat form by using holding plates. It is possible to start from a braided sleeve which is either compressed or stretched axially around a mandrel. It is also possible to use a woven tape which is wound in a conical pseudo-spiral for use as a cardiac valve.

  • Patent number: 4459708
Abstract: The invention relates to a joint prosthesis having an articular member fitted on an implant element housed in the bone cavity so as to slide without turning perpendicularly to the resection surface. The implant element is not provided with any abutting edge to limit its insertion into the bone cavity and the articular member is permanently supported with no twisting moment by the resection surface owing to its sliding possibility. The invention finds an application in hip joint endoprostheses.

  • Patent number: 4366183
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for making bioactive coatings on osseous prostheses, wherein, from solutions, a mist of particles containing calcium ions and orthophosphate ions is made and said mist is brought into contact with an implant made of inert material under such operational conditions that at least one desired calcium phosphate is formed by reaction on the hot surface of said inert implant, and to the osseous implants obtained by this process.
