  • Patent number: 9822858
Abstract: A motor driven valve actuator has a manual override that allows operating the valve without causing the motor rotation. The actuator includes a spindle having an axis of rotation, a driving hub rotatable about the axis of rotation, and a connecting plate attached to the spindle to be axially movable and rotatably fixed thereto, the connecting plate rotatably fixed to the driving hub when in a first axial position, thereby rotatably fixing the spindle to the driving hub for conjoined rotation with the driving hub, the connecting plate rotatable relative to the driving hub when in a second axial position.

  • Patent number: 5121434
Abstract: A speech analyzer and synthesizer uses simulation of the acoustic behavior of a tube divided into portions having variable sections. The section variations of the various portions of the tube generate sounds corresponding to voiced phonemes when an air flow and pressure source is positioned in analogy with human vocal cords. Using simulation techniques, it is possible to generate the phonemes in the form of electric signals supplied to a loud-speaker. The selection of tube portion lengths correlates to the accuracy of the approximation desired. For a three-formant approximation (formants are the tube resonance frequencies), the tube is divided into eight portions having successive lengths, L/10, L/15, 2L/15, 3L/15, 3L/15, 2L/15, L/15 and L/10, where L is the overall length of the tube.

  • Patent number: 5006602
Abstract: A composition consisting essentially of a polyvinylidene fluoride polymer or copolymer having distributed substantially uniformly therethrough elastomeric particles, said elastomer being capable of absorbing hydrocarbons and fixing them in the composition and being present in an amount sufficient to increase the elongation and flexibility of the composition in the presence of hydrocarbons and shaped articles made therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4951008
Abstract: Disclosed is a hyperfrequency device which includes a triple plate line in which at least two diodes exert their action at the same point on the suspended line. Instead of connecting the two diodes on both sides of the suspended line, they are mounted on the same side, this is possible by providing two subsidiary line sections orthogonal to the main line and in the same hyperfrequency plane. A diode is connected to the end of each subsidiary line at a point distant by .lambda.g/2 from the central point of the main line. The action of the two diodes is thus brought back to this point.

  • Patent number: 4849620
Abstract: The system allows homing on a useful target to be obtained in the presence of considerable parasite sources, such as the sun, in the field of observation. It includes elements for the spatial and spectral discrimination of the infrared light sources, formed with a detector strip preceded by a fixed modulation grid, the uniaxial field scanning device, switchable electronic filtering, one band pass and the other low pass, and switching optical filtering, one with very narrow band and the other with wide band. The grid is preferably formed by herringbone patterned tracks. The narrow band filter may be centered towards 4.4 microns and the wide band filter covers 3 to 5 microns for providing homing of a missile by optical deviation heading measurement in a ground/air or sea/air defense system.

  • Patent number: 4698604
Abstract: A nonreciprocal microwave device for surface electromagnetic waves (SEW waves) as applicable to isolators which provide high isolation comprises a flat metallic core, part of which is placed between two plates of gyromagnetic material and part of which is placed between two absorption loads. Parasitic volume waves are generated by resonance but resonance of waves of higher modes is prevented by forming in the core at least one zone for strong coupling with the SEW waves which propagate in the direction opposite to the low-loss direction at the edge of the core opposite to the edge at which the SEW wave propagates in the forward direction.

  • Patent number: 4495111
Abstract: The invention relates to a fire-resistant synthetic resin composition containing a polycarbonate, more specifically a bisphenol A derivative, a phosphorous fireproofing additive derived from phosphonic acid, and possibly other additives and/or fillers. The fireproofing additive is a Li, Na or K hemiester of a phosphonic acid derived from an aromatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon, or from a polynuclear aromatic compound, and is added at the rate of 0.01 to 0.4 weight % in relation to polycarbonate. This small amount of additive improves the fire-resistant properties of the polycarbonate, without affecting its mechanical properties.

  • Patent number: 4238582
Abstract: Hydrolysis-resistant copolyether-esteramides according to this invention are terminated, at one chain end, by a hydrocarbon radical and at the other chain end by a hydroxyl group. The sequential linear aliphatic copolyether-esteramides according to the invention are obtained by a polycondensation reaction of linear aliphatic dicarboxylic polyamide oligomers having a molecular weight comprised between 300 and 15,000, with .omega.-.omega.'-dihydroxyl polyoxyalkylene sequences having a molecular weight comprised between 100 and 6000 in the presence of a linear aliphatic monocarboxylic polyamide oligomer having a carboxyl group at one end of the macromolecular chain and a hydrocarbon radical at the other end thereof.
