  • Publication number: 20240139052
Abstract: Powered patient transport/support apparatuses—such as medical beds, gurneys, and surgical tables, that include various modifications to existing equipment which provide the caregiver a more efficient way to provide transport care to the patient. Telescoping arm systems, counterweight stability units, and zero-turn chassis give the caregiver the ability to move a patient without any additional assistance, thus reducing potential injury and secondary errors. Touchscreen monitors coupled with other vital sign monitoring equipment give the caregiver real in-time assessment of patient's condition while in transit. Rechargeable batteries are charged and stored on the docking station for easy access. Sensors detect proper weight distribution and adjust to provide stability to the patient when being moved from one place to another. Drone capabilities are available for the military version to actively search out wounded soldiers in the field without having to put more soldiers on the ground.

  • Publication number: 20180024378
Abstract: A lens apparatus for correcting vision or for magnifying, of a base lens, with first predetermined optical properties; and of at least one adhesive optical decal lens, each with its own predetermined optical properties; where the at least one adhesive optical decal lens may be attached to the base lens forming the lens apparatus; where the lens apparatus may have a third predetermined optical properties. The third predetermined optical properties may provide vision correction according to a prescription. The at least one adhesive optical decal lens and/or the base lens may be manufactured by embossing, and/or die cutting (stamping), yielding effective optical corrective and/or magnifying lenses quickly, easily, and cost effectively as compared against the labor intensive, time consuming, and expensive injection molding, grinding, and polishing processes presently used. Additionally, such adhesive optical decal lenses and methods may be used to extend the useful life of preexisting eyewear.

  • Patent number: 8971855
Abstract: An activation of a wireless device for network service on a home network of the carrier or service provider with which a user subscribes or intends to subscribe can be implemented over an alternate wireless network, e.g., a network of another wireless carrier. A data communication containing a request for activation is received from a non-activated wireless device via the alternate wireless network on a server configured to provide activation. The data communication is compared to one or more activation criteria. Upon determining, based on the comparison, that the content meets the one or more activation criteria, an activation data packet for activation of the non-activated wireless device is sent to the non-activated wireless device over the home wireless network and over the alternate wireless network.

  • Patent number: 8699683
Abstract: An exemplary extended dialing plan allows use of one or more special characters, such as the # digit and the * digit, as dialable digits. The telecommunications network receives a string of characters representing a destination address from a first communication device, for use in routing a communication through the network to a second communication device. The received string of characters includes a number digit in the first position in the string and at least one non-numerical special character in another position. The character string is received from the first communication device by the network, the character string is analyzed and used to route the communication through the telecommunication network to the destination address based at least in part on the character string with at least one non-numerical special character.

  • Publication number: 20060267932
Abstract: A method and apparatus which includes a manipulandum that is movable in at least one degree of freedom. A sensor which is configured to sense motion of the manipulandum provides a locative signal to a first processor. A coupling device is coupled to the manipulandum and a first component. The coupling device is configured to allow the manipulandum to freely move a first distance with respect to the first component. An actuator coupled to the first component and configured to output force feedback to the first component in response to receiving a force signal from the first processor, whereby the force feedback to the first component causes resistance to movement of the manipulandum when the manipulandum moves beyond the first distance.

  • Publication number: 20060114223
Abstract: An interface device for use with a computer that provides locative data to a computer for tracking a user manipulatable physical object and provides feedback to the user through output forces. The physical object is movable in multiple degrees of freedom and is tracked by sensors for sensing the location and orientation of the object. A device processor can be responsive to the output of the sensors and can provide the host computer with information derived from the sensors. The host computer can provide images on a display where the computer responds to the provided sensor information and force feedback is correlated with the displayed images via force feedback commands from the host computer.

  • Patent number: 5819526
Abstract: A lower power arcjet propellant feed system for delivering propellant to a low power arcjet. The low power arcjet propellant feed system includes a liquid propellant storage chamber for storing a liquid propellant. A gas generator in communication with the liquid propellant storage chamber generates a gaseous propellant upon receipt of the liquid propellant from the liquid propellant storage chamber. A gas plenum in communication with the gas generator accumulates the gaseous propellant from the gas generator up to a desired pressure. Actively controllable valves actively control the flow of the liquid propellant into the gas generator and actively control the flow of the resultant gaseous propellant out of the gas generator and into the gas plenum up to the desired pressure. A substantially continuous and stable low flow rate of gaseous propellant is then delivered to the low power arcjet.

  • Patent number: 5419193
Abstract: A wheel balancer comprises a main housing which supports a sub-housing. A main shaft to which a wheel to be balanced is coupled is rotatable in the sub-housing. The sub-housing is pivotally connected to the main housing by a pivot shaft which defines a horizontal main pivot axis extending transversely of the rotational axis of the main shaft. The sub-housing is pivotal from a horizontal position to a vertical position with the main shaft extending upwardly of the sub-housing to facilitate coupling of the wheel to the main shaft.

  • Patent number: 5189912
Abstract: A wheel balancer comprises apparatus for determining the radius of a rim of a hub of a wheel and for determining the distance of the inner and outer side walls of the hub from a reference plane. A framework which is pivotal downwardly over the wheel to be balanced carries a pair of ultrasonic transducers to determine distance of the sides of the wheel from the reference plane. A transducer monitors the position of the framework. The distances monitored by the ultrasonic transducers are stored in a microprocessor against the corresponding positions of the framework at intervals on movement of the framework. The ultrasonic transducers detect a large change in distance from the reference plane caused by the hub well periphery. The hub rim radius is computed from the well periphery radius, while the distances of the side wall from the reference plane is obtained by looking up the stored values of distances which corresponds with the appropriate position of the framework for the hub rim radius.
