  • Patent number: 5585076
Abstract: The installation, which includes a tubular enclosure, is provided with a plugging device at each end, each plugging device including a moving assembly that can be displaced perpendicularly to the axis .DELTA. of the enclosure. The moving assembly includes a plug of the stopper type provided with a seal, a spacer provided with a pull rod a drawer and a plugging body. The moving assembly is slidably mounted in a force take-up member. Via co-operation between sloping ramps carried by the plug and complementary sloping grooves in the drawer, the transverse displacement of the drawer causes the plug to be displaced axially.

  • Patent number: 5518349
Abstract: A member for fixing by radial expansion, the member comprising a pull rod having an expandable plug mounted thereon and surrounded over its entire length by a split ring, one end of the pull rod being connected to an endpiece, said plug being sandwiched between said endpiece and a thrust part also mounted on said pull rod, the member further including means enabling said endpiece to be moved towards said thrust part in such a manner as to compress the plug axially, thereby causing both it and said split ring to expand radially, wherein when said plug is uncompressed and at rest, said split ring is longer than said plug, said thrust part including a portion that constitutes a ram suitable for penetrating into said split ring, and wherein the end of said split ring includes a radially inwardly extending collar having the expandable plug and said endpiece bearing against opposite sides thereof.

  • Patent number: 5303553
Abstract: A device for connecting two tubes end-to-end. At least one of the tubes is movable longitudinally to be connected to the other tube. A screwthreaded nut joins the two tubes. The first tube has at its end an outside screwthread of diameter d1 and pitch p1. The second tube has at its end an inside screwthread of diameter d2 greater than d1 and pitch p2 different than that p1 of the first tube. One of the screwthreads is continuous and the other is discontinuous by virtue of longitudinal lands subtending an angle at the center of the tube equal to that of the screwthreaded longitudinal lands. The nut 3 has an inside first screwthread compatible with that of the first tube and an outside second screwthread compatible with that of the second tube. The device further includes a system for immobilizing the tubes against rotation and a system for rotating the nut.

  • Patent number: 4766934
Abstract: A closure head (2) for a hydraulic tube-testing bench includes a head body (4) including a first bore (5) into which one end of a tube (1) may be freely inserted. A second bore (11) of larger diameter than the first bore has a resilient sealing ring (10) inserted at the end thereof. A fluid under pressure is conveyed into a chamber (40) constituted between the outer periphery of the sealing ring and the second bore enabling the sealing ring to be contracted against the tube. The sealing ring is prevented from moving axially on its side furthest from the end of the tube by an annular series of thrust sectors (13) which are independent from said sealing ring. The sectors are clamped against the tube while also enabling them to be retracted away therefrom. The sectors are axially retained on their sides furthest from said sealing ring.

  • Patent number: 4658637
Abstract: A cell (4) for analyzing a fluid which is condensable, at least in part. The cell comprises a volume (16, 17, 18) in which the fluid is inserted. The volume is delimited firstly by an envelope (11, 12, 13) and secondly by an upper piston (14) capable of sliding in a sealed manner in the envelope and associated with apparatus for adjusting the pressure of the fluid being analyzed, together with lower apparatus enabling the level of the gas/liquid separation surface to be adjusted. The envelope is provided with portholes (19) associated with marking in order to display and measure the level of the surface. Conduits (20, 21) are provided between the piston and said lower apparatus for inserting the fluid to be analyzed into the volume and for emptying the volume of the fluid. The cell includes the improvement whereby a rod (27) from a first hydraulic control actuator is linked to the upper piston and a lower piston (15) is connected to a rod (29) from a second hydraulic control actuator.
