  • Patent number: 4527700
Abstract: A closure device for both smooth necked and threaded necked containers includes a tamperproof cap frangibly affixed to the container for selective removal by manipulation of the cover. Upon breaking the tamperproof seal by cover manipulation, the cap may be retained within the cover to avoid disposal problems and to serve as a sealing component when the container is resealed after initial opening occurs.

  • Patent number: 4442430
Abstract: The ITAT technique, embodied in ITAT hardware, provides a means to add additional operating modes to interrogator-transponder (beacon) systems in a relatively simple and economical manner. The technique permits the adding of special modulation to the normal pulse-coded transmissions for the purpose of providing a security identification code, or a digital wavefore enabling high processing gain, or both. Two similarly designed ITAT units are required; one for interrogator systems, and one for transponder systems. Both units simply connect between the respective system units and the system antennas. The ITAT units operate in two modes; "Normal" and "ITAT." In the normal mode, the units do not interfere with operation of the transponder-interrogator (beacon) system. In the ITAT mode, the units suppress the beacon system operating range by introducing attenuation between the interrogator unit (or transponder unit) and the antenna. In effect, normal operation is blocked during ITAT operation.

  • Patent number: 4161729
Abstract: By adding an indicator control panel to the cockpit and a small receiver-decoder unit between the transponder and the antenna of aircraft having a conventional air traffic control radar beacon system transponder, mid-air collision avoidance capability is obtained. The BACAS (Beacon Add-on Subsystem for Collision Avoidance System) receiver-decoder unit in an aircraft interrogates the associated ATC (Air Traffic Control) transponder to obtain and store the ATCRBS Mode C reply altitude information. The 1090 MHz transponder Mode C reply is given 5 MHz on-off amplitude modulation by the receiver-decoder unit and is radiated into space through the ATC antenna. Identical BASCAS hardware in aircraft within range sense the specially-modulated (5 MHz), Mode C reply and immediately act to trigger their respective ATC transponders into emitting Mode C replies with essentially the same special modulation characteristics except for a different modulation frequency (10 MHz).
