  • Patent number: 5086022
Abstract: Process for improving the characteristics of absorption and desorption of a gas by a reaction medium consisting of several salts in powder form and a porous solid product, characterized in that it consists in mixing 0 to 60% by mass of the porous product with the powdered salt(s). The porous product consists of a mixture of expanded graphite and a second expanded product of rigid structure and high permeability.

  • Patent number: 5083607
Abstract: Device for producing cold and/or heat by solid-gas reaction, intended to be used, for example, for air conditioning, including reactor chambers, each chamber being intended to contain a reagent formed from a mixture of a salt and an expanded product which is a good thermal conductor, the reagent being able to react through absorption with a gas according to an exothermic reaction, the device including moreover, a passage for a fluid to be cooled and a passage for a fluid to be heated. According to the invention, the device includes reactor chambers connected together pairwise, the transfer of heat between the reactor chambers and with the fluid being afforded by heat pipes of the gravitational type.

  • Patent number: 5056591
Abstract: A method is provided of conducting a thermochemical absorption or desorption reaction between a gas and a solid in the presence of a heat-carrying fluid in a closed enclosure. This method comprises a first step in which, for the pressure prevailing in the reactor, the variation of the mean power of the reaction is determined as a function of the difference which exists between the temperature of the heat-carrying fluid and the equilibrium temperature of the reaction, given by the Clapeyron diagram, for defining an optimum zone in which the reaction takes place with maximum mean power, and a second step in which the reaction takes place, in which a reference temperature is imposed on the heat-carrying fluid such that the reaction takes place in the optimum zone.

  • Patent number: 5057132
Abstract: Device for producing cold and/or heat by a solid gas reaction comprising a first and a second reactor each of which contains a salt capable of reacting by absorption with a gas by an exothermic reaction, the first reactor being in communication in a first operating stage with an enclosure intended to retain the gas, the second reactor being in communication, in the first operating stage, with an enclosure intended to release the gas, according to the invention, each reactor comprises a different salt. A device comprising four reactors provided with three different salts is also described.
