  • Patent number: 11697935
Abstract: Insulation panels for wall construction and roofing installation are characterized by inlaid battens in outer faces thereof by which multiple layers of insulation can be installed without thermal bridging. Second and any subsequent layers are each fastened only to the battens of the immediately underlying layer, without fully penetrating therethrough to the roof deck, building wrap or other substrate. Laminated facers of perforated character allow migration of moisture to and from a foam core of the panel, while internal channels and internal slots beneath the facer enable drainage/drying of excess moisture without material degradation of the inlaid battens. Additional drainage space within each layer is provided at inter-panel connections, where tongue and groove connections are configured to leave such drainage space open between the tongue and groove.

  • Publication number: 20230160206
Abstract: An exterior wall features interior and exterior insulation layers that comprise facer-laminated foam insulation panels having battens recessed into foam cores thereof at interior and exterior faces of the interior and exterior layers, respectively. A first set of spacer boards between the insulation layers provide an offset therebetween, and thereby create an array of air-filled void spaces for further insulative effect. At the interior side of the interior panels, a second set of spacer boards are installed for offset mounting of interior finishings (e.g. drywall) thereto, thereby creating another insulative array of air-filled void spaces between the interior insulation panels and the interior finishings. Exterior cladding placed directly over the exterior insulation panels is fastened to the battens thereof.

  • Patent number: 11028578
Abstract: An exterior insulation panel for installation in an exterior building envelope of a building. The insulation panel has an interior face for facing toward an interior space of the building, an exterior face lying opposite the interior face for facing away from the interior space of the building, and a foam core laminated with a perforated exterior facer on one or both faces of the panel, at which the exterior facer defines an uncovered outermost layer of the panel. Each perforated facer comprises openings therein through which moisture is migratable into the foam core during moisture-rich environmental conditions, for temporary holding of the excess moisture until such conditions subside.

  • Patent number: 9689162
Abstract: An insulating wall assembly features a plurality of insulation panels fitted together end-to-end and each having least one slot in a side thereof facing into an interior space of a building. At each slot, a respective set of supports each have an insertion portion engaged in the slot and a fastening portion reaching outwardly from said slot past the first face of the insulation panel. A respective framing member is fastened to each set of supports with a longitudinal dimension of said framing member running along the slot in which said set of supports are engaged. Each framing member has a first leg fastened face-to-face with the fastening portions of the respective set of supports and a second leg facing away from the insulation panels to present a surface for fastening of wall-finishing panels thereto. Holes in the supports accommodate electrical wiring or other lines within the finished wall assembly.

  • Patent number: 8640416
Abstract: A sliding and locking energy-efficient wall assembly includes a plurality of: parallel spaced apart foam posts, foam panels, framing/spacing members, and finishing wall panels. The foam posts are vertically disposed on a foundation wall, and have ends dimensioned to contact and adhere to the surface of the wall, an inside end opposite the planar end, and two opposing side flanged ends. Grooves on the foam panels are dimensioned to receive the side flanged ends of the foam posts. The framing/spacing members have a web and flange portions, to engage the inside grooved ends of the foam posts to provide an interior attachment surface for the finishing wall panels. The finishing wall panels are secured to the web portions of the framing/spacing members, whereby an air space is created between the foam panels and the finishing wall panels. The framing/spacing members and foam posts are adjustable to permit plumb installation.
