  • Publication number: 20200269300
Abstract: The invention relates to a roller leveler (1) having a set of upper and lower flattening rollers (2), wherein each flattening roller (2) is provided with a rotary drive (3) actuated by leveler control (4) for rotating the flattening roller (2) to advance a to-be-flattened metallic flat material in a forward direction (F) and, thereby, flatten the flat, metallic material. To achieve an improved and optimal flattening result, the invention proposes that each flattening roller (2) has a first rotary drive (L1, L2 . . . Ln) for driving one axial end of the flattening roller (2), and a second rotary drive (R1, R2 . . . Rn) for driving one axial end of the flattening roller (2) and a second rotary drive (R1, R2 . . . Rn) for driving the other end of the flattening roller, wherein the leveler controller (4) is designed to apply a parameter determining the direction of rotation of the flattening roller (2) to the first and second rotary drives (L1, L2 . . . Ln, R1, R2 . . . Rn) individually based on a pre-set value.

  • Patent number: 7709059
Abstract: A method for operating a machine for single or double sided application of a liquid or viscous coating medium by way of at least one applicator unit onto the surface of a mating material web, especially a paper or cardboard web is provided. The coating medium collecting unit is cleaned prior to, during or after an application process of the machine, by way of supplying cleaning liquid via the supply line. The valve arrangement can be switched to the second valve condition for clean-up and to the third valve condition for the collection of coating medium in the medium collecting device. The medium collecting unit can be cleaned after start of the application process, during coating, through elements of supplying cleaning liquid via the supply line.

  • Patent number: 7669549
Abstract: A machine for single or double sided application of a liquid or viscous coating medium by way of at least one applicator unit onto the surface of a mating material web, especially a paper or cardboard web. A medium collecting device that is allocated to the applicator unit or to a dispensing component of the applicator unit which includes the dispensing openings, is equipped with a receiving and release component which is allocated to the medium collecting device and which is or can be mounted detachably on same. During the start of the application process the component releases the curtain or veil due to a common adjustment with the medium collecting device or of a section component of same relative to the curtain or veil from a rim extending across the moving background or from an edge extending across the moving background.

  • Publication number: 20040226674
Abstract: A coating for finishing paper or cardboard, with pigments in an aqueous dispersion including a binding agent in a portion of at least 7 percent by weight, preferably 9 to 15 percent by weight (depending on the pigment percentage). Also included is a thickener in a portion of 0.05 to 0.5 percent by weight, preferably 0.2 to 0.4 percent by weight (depending on the pigment percentage) and one surfactant in a portion of at least 0.1 percent by weight (depending on the pigment percentage), preferably 0.2 to 1 percent by weight. The solid content amounts to 50 to 75 percent by weight, preferably 55 to 65 percent by weight, and wherein the viscosity exhibited is no greater than 2500 mPas, preferably less than 500 mPas (Brookfield 100 UPM, 20° C.). A method for producing coated papers or cardboards, where the coating is thoroughly degassed prior to application.

  • Patent number: 6471775
Abstract: A slot nozzle for coating webs of material, for example, paper, paperboard, cardboard, with a flowable coating substance, for example, a pigment coating, has a slot shaped outlet channel to which a distribution chamber extending over the width of the web is connected. A plurality of supply conduits are connected to the distribution chamber in spaced relationship across the width of the web and the length of the outlet channel and each supply conduit has a valve for adjusting the volume flow of the coating liquid. A respective diffuser is provided between each supply conduit and the distribution chamber and widens in the direction of the latter.

  • Patent number: 6468592
Abstract: A web is coated by passing it in a horizontal web travel direction beneath a slot nozzle extending transversely of the direction. A pigment-carrying liquid is ejected at a flow speed from a slot of the nozzle to form a downwardly free-falling curtain extending across the web. A vertical inner face of a guide element is oriented at each outer edge of the curtain with each face extending from a respective end of the slot downward to adjacent the passing web. An upper region of each of the inner faces is fed is to a respective partial stream of the liquid such that the partial streams flow down the respective inner faces at a speed at least equal to the curtain flow speed and merge with the outer edges of the curtain.
