  • Patent number: 6170777
Abstract: The invention pertains to a load roll arrangement for loading a winding arrangement with one or several wound rolls on the same axis, during the winding of a web-like material, particularly paper, onto winding cores in a multiple-drum winder wherein support drums form a winding bed, in which the winding arrangement, rotating about its axis, is supported, with a support beam (60), vertically movable dependent upon the wound roll diameter, with a multipart load roll, consisting of a number of load rollers (42), which, individually with respect to the support beam (60), are vertically movable on a mounting arrangement and can be maintained in contact with the wound roll along a nip, with means for the fluid-like, particularly hydraulic, pressing of the load rollers (42) against the winding arrangement, and with an additional adjustment device, by means of which the mounting arrangements (50) of the individual load rollers (42) can be moved to different heights, independently of each other with respect to the sup

  • Patent number: 6076762
Abstract: A rider roller assembly includes a beam being translationally moveable substantially vertically relative to a paper web roll being wound. A rider roller in the assembly includes a plurality of rider roll wheels which are mounted to the beam and are individually pivotable so as to engage the wound roll along a nip line. A plurality of supporting arms are articulately linked with the beam for supporting and individually pivoting the rider roll wheels on a swiveling axis in relation to the beam. The individual rider roll wheels are individually loaded against the paper web roll. Double-acting piston/cylinder units are connected to the rider roll wheels for lifting or compensating the rider roll wheels.

  • Patent number: 4592259
Abstract: A method for positioning coacting circular cutting blades in a slitting device for a web of material characterized by moving the pair of blades which are mounted on separate carriages along rails extending transverse to the direction of movement of the web being cut to a predetermined position, and locking the carriages of the blades in this predetermined position with the method including compensating for changes in the width of the cutting blade due to sharpening and grinding by measuring the distance of the cutting edge of the blade from a bench mark on the carriage, comparing this distance to a standard to form an offset amount and using the offset amount to correct the amount of movement of the carriage so that the blades are positioned on the desired cutting line.

  • Patent number: 4485980
Abstract: A winding device with two supporting rollers, upon which a web is wound onto a winding tube to form a roll. The web may be guided under the first supporting roller from below through a gap between the supporting rollers to the roll. A pivoting winding tube inserter is provided, which carries the winding tube and which may be pivoted over the wedge like space between the two supporting rollers for depositing the winding tube. A blade is arranged over the pivoting range of the tube inserter. The blade is guided closely adjacent to a rim of the tube inserter parallel to the axles of the supporting rollers. Cutting is effected during the run-out of the finished roll under the tension resulting from said run-out and maintained by a braking device acting against the upstream supporting roller in the web.
