  • Publication number: 20080284414
Abstract: A hysteresis brake is provided, such as for an electric camshaft adjuster, has with an excitation coil, a stator with an inner and outer stator part, and a moveable rotor with a hysteresis band which is movable between the inner and outer stator part. The excitation coil, which produces a main magnetic flux for a magnetic adjuster is arranged between the inner and outer stator part. A sensor enables the rotor and/or the hysteresis band to receive a secondary magnetic flux caused by the main magnetic flux, or enables the excitation coil to receive the main flux. An evaluation and control unit evaluates the magnetic flux received and determines angle and/or rotational speed information from detected changes of the magnetic flux.

  • Patent number: 7237536
Abstract: In a method for ascertaining the position of a mobile closing element of an injector valve in a motor vehicle engine, in which the closing element is driven by a piezoelectric element for opening or closing the injection valve and a voltage signal allocated to an electrical voltage recorded on the piezoelectric element, the position of the closing element is ascertained from the ascertained voltage signal. Through a two-way valve arranged on the injection valve, a change in the voltage signal is brought about based upon a change in the electrical voltage on the piezoelectric element as a function of the position of the closing element.

Abstract: A device for removing substances from blood or other body fluids, comprising a bundle of semi-permeable hollow fibers, the ends of which are embedded and held in a pottant, and a tubular casing surrounding the hollow fiber bundle. At the ends of the casing, inlet and outlet pipes are connected with partitioned fluid chambers formed in the casing. Different aspects are provided to improve the flow properties, for increasing the filtering efficiency, such as varying packing density along the length of the fiber bundle, a distributor disc within a cap, apertures on the circumference of the pottant and an ordered structure of the rippling of the hollow fibers.

  • Publication number: 20060190155
Abstract: An arrangement for controlling a vehicle engine or transmission includes a control device arranged remotely from the engine/transmission (which provides the open-loop and closed-loop control algorithms), and a unit which is attached to the engine/transmission, and which is electrically connected directly to a plurality of sensors and/or actuators. The unit has an A/D converter for converting sensor signals into digital sensor signals, which are then converted into data bus signals by a data bus transceiver unit, for communication via a data bus between the unit and the control device. A uniform sensor/actuator interface is provided, with a plurality of parallel connections for the sensors/actuators and a connection for the data bus. A signal converter converts the sensor signals directly into the data bus signals in accordance with an open-loop/closed-loop control algorithm without the intermediate connection of a calculating means.

  • Patent number: 4936988
Abstract: The invention relates to a diagonal flow filter module, particularly for ultra- and microfiltration. The diagonal flow filter module consists of a cuboid stack element (5) with alternating flow channels (9) for crude solution or retentate and filtrate channels (10), which are separated from one another in each case by a filter membrane (6). The flow channels (9) are closed off at the side walls of the stack element (5), while the filtrate channels (10) have openings at the side walls for the discharge of the filtrate. The flow channels (9) are open at the end faces of the stack element (5) and the filtrate channels (10) are closed. The ends of the stack element (5) are sealed to a housing (1) with a synthetic resin composition. Sealed to the end faces there are end caps (12) with the connections for crude solutions and retentate which, together with the seal between the stack ends and the housing (1), ensures a reliable separation between retentate and filtrate space.

  • Patent number: 3995553
Abstract: A plurality of drive elements, such as electric motors supplied with sprockets, are located along a threading path for the paper web of a rotary printing press; a threading element, such as a sprocket chain of a finite length somewhat longer than the maximum space between drive elements is moved along the path, for example, in a guide channel, the threading element cooperating with switches located adjacent the drive elements to energize the drive element adjacent a leading edge of the threading element, and move the threading element along to the next threading element, the trailing end turning the switch OFF since drive power will be supplied by the next drive element along the path. This sprocket chain carries a gripper with which the leading edge of the paper web to be threaded into the printing press can be gripped.
