Binary burner with Venturi tube fuel atomization and Venturi jets for the atomization of liquid fuel
Patent number: 6793487Abstract: A burner, in particular, for a motor vehicle supplementary or parking heater, for the burning of liquid fuel, in the presence of combustion air, has a combustion chamber (10), with a jet for the atomization of liquid fuel, arranged before said chamber. The jet has a Venturi tube (11) at the largest diameter end of the diffuser section thereof, opening into the combustion chamber (10), and the liquid fuel is introduced into the Venturi region which is at a low pressure when compared with the upstream end of the diffuser section (12), and through the inlet section (13) of which the air is pumped.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 2003Date of Patent: September 21, 2004Assignee: Webasto Thermosysteme International GmbHInventors: Christian Hubbauer, Bernd Mittmann, Thomas Kerscher, Christine Sallinger -
Publication number: 20040068934Abstract: The invention relates to a system for converting fuel and air into reformate with a reformer (10) which has a reaction space (12), a nozzle (14) for supplying a fuel/air mixture to the reaction space (12), and a fuel feed (16) for supplying fuel to the nozzle (14). As claimed in the invention it is provided that in the air inlet area (18) of the nozzle (14) there are air guidance means (40) which impart a swirl to the inflowing air.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2003Publication date: April 15, 2004Inventors: Felix Wolf, Bernd Mittmann, Christine Sallinger, Christian Hubbauer, Thomas Kerscher, Christian Baecker, Stefan Kunz, Marcus Neumueller, Florian Metz, Martin Wegner, Ingrid Lanzl, Peter Lamp

Publication number: 20030022123Abstract: The invention relates to an atomizing burner, especially for use in an automobile auxiliary heating system, comprising an atomizing nozzle (2) for processing the fuel, an ignition device (29) and a combustion chamber (8). An iar conduction device (10, 12, 14) is connected upstream of a nozzle holder (3) of the atomizing nozzle (2) in order to achieve finer atomization of the fuel. Said air conduction device subjects the combustion air streaming into the atomizing nozzle (2) to a swirl.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2002Publication date: January 30, 2003Inventors: Felix Wolf, Bernd Mittmann, Christine Sallinger

Patent number: 4519772Abstract: A heating device fed with free-flowing fuel and connected to an on-board voltage source, in particular, a vehicle heater. The heating device is equipped with a burner assembly which has a fuel supply, a combustion air fan and a heating element which ignites a fuel/air mixture after a preheating phase. During the preheating phase, the combustion fuel fan is shut off or at least is operated at less than the operating blower output. There is also a switching device which automatically turns on or switches the combustion air fan to its operating blower output after a preheating phase has been completed. The switching device is designed as a voltage-dependent time-function element, which presets a preheating time dependent upon the magnitude of the on-board voltage and which decreases the preheating time as the on-board voltage increases.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1983Date of Patent: May 28, 1985Assignee: Webasto-Werk.
