  • Patent number: 5876125
Abstract: Slide shoe for use in a plain bearing, notably in an axial thrust bearing. The outer periphery (50) of the slide shoe has below its sliding surface (10) a peripheral recess (52) through which the slide shoe rim area (56) that features the appropriate rim area of the sliding surface (10), can flex into the peripheral recess (52) when the sliding surface (10) expands under the effect of temperature more heavily than the deeper part of the slide shoe.

  • Patent number: 5765951
Abstract: An axial plain bearing comprising a plurality of slide shoes (2) which are arranged annularly about a bearing axis of rotation, each slide shoe (2) being provided with an annular peripheral recess (52) on an outer circumference thereof, the annular peripheral recess (52) dividing the slide shoe (2) into a sliding pad (4) provided with a sliding surface (10), and, on an end of the slide shoe (2) opposite the sliding pad (4), a saucerlike compression spring (8) having a diameter greater than the diameter of the sliding pad (4) to protrude radially beyond the sliding pad (4), the sliding pad (4), the saucerlike compression spring (8) and a connecting part (6) connecting the sliding pad (4) and compression spring (8) in the center of the recess (52) together consisting essentially of an integral piece of plastic, the slide shoes (2) being arranged side by side such that the radially protruding compression springs (8) of adjacent slide shoes (2) maintain clearance between sliding pads (4) of said adjacent slide sh

  • Patent number: 5599109
Abstract: A bearing assembly includes a bearing base and a plurality of tiltable shoes. A ceramic plate is bonded to each shoe and a face surface of each ceramic plate provides a bearing face. Tilting movement of the shoes relative to the bearing base provides a fluid lubrication film wedge between the bearing faces and the running surface of a moving load. The ceramic plates are separately produced and are bonded to the surface of the shoes, which are formed of relatively soft material, by adhesive, soldering, welding or sintering. The running surface of the load may be formed of a ceramic layer. The ceramic plates are formed of silicon carbide which is fiber reinforced.

  • Patent number: 5458984
Abstract: A journal bearing assembly includes a steel bearing body and a Babbitt metal liner which defines an internal bearing surface and provides a sliding bearing for a rotating journal. A porous metal bonding layer of NiAl 80/20 or AlSi 12 is applied between the bearing body and the liner. The bonding layer is spray deposited onto the bearing body and the liner is spray deposited onto the bonding layer. The liner is most porous at the bonding layer interface with decreasing porosity toward the bearing surface. The bonding layer may be flame sprayed or applied in powder form and fused. Similarly, the liner may be flame sprayed or applied in powder form and fused.
