  • Patent number: 5252658
Abstract: A premixture composition for the production of water-resistant photographic support material coated with polyolefin resin for light-sensitive materials of polyolefin resin and light-reflecting white pigment comprises a polyolefin resin formed as a copolymer of ethylene and an .alpha.-olefin. A light-reflecting white pigment is intimately mixed with the said polyolefin resin. Hydrocarbon side chains derived of an .alpha.-olefin in the copolymer comprise C.sub.1 to C.sub.16 carbon atoms. The contents of the copolymer of ethylene and .alpha.-olefin in the premixture composition amounts to from about 10 weight-percent to 100 weight-percent of the complete premixture composition. The light-reflecting white pigment is titanium dioxide. The titanium dioxide employed in the mixture has been subjected to a chemical after-treatment.

  • Patent number: 4998463
Abstract: A coffee brewing machine wherein a riser conveys heated liquid into the chamber of a liquid collecting receptacle above a filter holder containing a supply of flavoring agent, such as comminuted coffee beans. The bottom wall of the receptacle has one or more openings which admit heated liquid into the filter holder, and one or more apertures which discharge steam in such a way that the outflowing steam can or must bypass the filter holder. To this end, each aperture defines for steam a path which is inclined with reference to the bottom wall of the receptacle. An aperture can be provided in a hollow flow divider which is installed in the chamber to break up the flow of heated liquid from the riser toward the liquid discharging opening or openings. If the receptacle has a single aperture, the latter is preferably located in or at the central longitudinal vertical symmetry plane of the housing of the machine and causes the steam to leave the receptacle by flowing in such plane.

  • Patent number: 4935298
Abstract: A water-resistant support material for light-sensitive materials is disclosed, which is coated on one side or two sides with a polyolefin resin. At least the polyolefin resin of the front-side coating is a copolymer of ethylene and a non-ethylene .alpha.-olefin. This copolymer allows to add to the coating mass a high content in light-reflecting white pigment.

  • Patent number: 4898773
Abstract: A photographic paper support, which carries on both sides a water resistant coating of polyethylene, is disclosed. The polyethylene is a polyethylene of relatively low density of between 0.930 and 0.936 gram per cubic centimeter, which is produced according to high pressure polymerization. In particular, low density polyethylene (LDPE) produced according to the high pressure method with a density of 0.934 gram per cubic centimeter can be employed.

The molecular weight of the polyethylene glycol can be between 100 and 35,000, preferably 400 to 20,000, that of the polypropylene glycol can be between 400 and 10,000, preferably between 2,000 and 4,000, and that of the copolymers of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide can be between 200 and 20,000. In addition to the polyalkylene glycol, the polyolefin layer advantageously contains a fatty acid derivative from the group of soaps and fatty acid amides.

  • Patent number: 4725921
Abstract: A hinge-mounted labeling panel having two final positions for use on plug-in modules in subassemblies of a mechanically modular system. According to the invention, a panel portion of the labeling panel is hinge-mounted on one end to a guide crossbar of the subassembly, such as a card cage, and on the other end is fitted with a lock. The labeling panel thus has a simple design, and also has two flat sides both of which can be used to attach the desired labeling.
