  • Patent number: 8986507
Abstract: Methods, devices and systems for continuously converting biomass are described herein. A device has a feed section for holding a moving bed of biomass, namely wood, having a drying section, a flame zone for degassing, and a, smolder zone for carbonizing the biomass into a solid converted product, namely charcoal. The device includes a tank for collecting the solid converted product arranged below a grate and coupled with the feed section in a gas-tight manner. The system comprising the device, a biogas plant and/or a combined heat and power plant conveys the liquid converted product, namely pyroligneous acid or acetic acid, to the biogas plant and/or the solid converted product, namely charcoal, to the combined heat and power plant.

  • Publication number: 20120079762
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (100; 302), the use thereof, a method and a system (300) for continuously converting biomass (102; 304). The device (100; 302) has the following: a feed section (104) for holding a moving bed of biomass (102; 304), in particular wood, having an upper section (140) for drying, a middle section (142), which is a flame zone for degassing, and a lower section (146), which is a smolder zone for carbonizing the biomass (102; 304) into a solid converted product (158; 306), in particular charcoal; a grate (110), which supports the moving bed and is permeable to the solid converted product (158; 306) in the downwards direction. A collection tank (136) for collecting the solid converted product (158; 306) is provided; it is arranged below the grate (110), and is couplable with the feed section (104) in a manner that is gas-tight against the outside air, and has a wall area with a cooling device (160).

  • Publication number: 20110168185
Abstract: Liner (100a; 100b; 200a; 200b; 300; 400) to at least partially enclose a body part (205a; 205b; 305) during an imaging procedure, and use of a liner (100a; 100b; 200a; 200b; 300; 400) in a device that simulates the weight acting on the body part (205a; 205b; 305) essentially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the body part (205a; 205b; 305), and the use of a liner (100a; 100b; 200a; 200b; 300; 400) to create a virtual 3D model of the body part (205a; 205b; 305). The liner (100a; 100b; 200a; 200b; 300; 400) is suitable to hold the body part (205a; 205b; 305) essentially in a predetermined shape, wherein the liner (100a; 100b; 200a; 200b; 300; 400) can be placed on the skin surface of the body part (205a; 205b; 305) in an essentially form-fitting manner. The liner (100a; 100b; 200a; 200b; 300; 400) contains a material comprising a base material in which at least one contrast medium is essentially homogeneously distributed.

  • Publication number: 20110161058
Abstract: An apparatus, system, method and computer program for a user (1102) to interact (1110) with a 3D socket/stump computer model (190; 401; 500; 600) to modify the 3D socket/stump computer model (190; 401; 500; 600) which describes the surface shape and spatial tissue distribution of a stump, which are designed to subdivide the 3D socket/stump computer model (190; 401; 500; 600) into sections (301; 700; 900; 1106), to display the surface shape and tissue distribution in one section (301; 700; 900; 1106) of the 3D socket/stump computer model (190; 401; 500; 600) on a display (1100), to allow the user to select by means of a first selection module a section (301; 700; 900; 1106) of the 3D socket/stump computer model (190; 401; 500; 600) for display on the display (1100), to allow the user to select by means of a second selection module at least one predefined spatial distribution of a modification of the surface shape in the section (301; 700; 900; 1106), and to modify the surface shape in the section (301; 700; 90
