  • Patent number: 10711714
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine during any driving operation and in particular during a defined testing cycle which determines compliance with regulations. The internal combustion engine has at least one exhaust gas aftertreatment device with an adjustable degree of efficiency (for example by changing the reduction agent) or an exhaust gas recirculation device or alternative variables for changing the raw engine emissions. At least one monitoring window is assigned to the active profile. The aim of the invention is to allow strict exhaust gas regulations to be met in particular during real driving operations while simultaneously allowing a low fuel consumption. This is achieved in that at least one main monitoring window of the driving profile and a sub-monitoring window (F2) with a starting point and an end point are defined within a driving profile or test cycle.

  • Publication number: 20150040540
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine (1), in particular having compression ignition, comprising at least one SCR catalytic converter (5) in the exhaust gas system (3) and an exhaust gas recirculation valve (8), wherein the exhaust gas recirculation amount and/or the position of the exhaust gas recirculation valve (8) is controlled in accordance with the NOx concentration upstream of the SCR catalytic converter (5) in such a way that a NOx concentration (NOxI1) measured by at least one first NOx sensor (6) upstream of the SCR catalytic converter (5) corresponds to a specified NOx concentration target value (NOxs).

  • Publication number: 20140056788
Abstract: A method for a model-based feedback control of an SCR system having at least one SCR catalytic converter. An SCR catalytic converter model of the SCR catalytic converter is used to control an injection of a reductant upstream of the SCR catalytic converter. In the SCR catalytic converter model, at least one reduction rate based on an Arrhenius approach and/or an SCR efficiency of at least one relevant reaction in the SCR catalytic converter is calculated. Deviations between a real system behavior and a simulated system behavior are adjusted using adaptation logic. In order to minimize the deviations between the model and the real system behavior and to achieve enhanced control accuracy, at least one adjustment parameter is used in the calculation of at least one reaction rate and/or the SCR efficiency, the adjustment parameter taking into consideration deviations between the real system behavior and the simulated system behavior.

  • Patent number: 6827063
Abstract: For the establishment of a crank-angle based signal pattern with high discrimination representing a relevant working characteristic of an internal combustion engine, the working characteristic is detected with high time discrimination and with the aid of a time-based and angled-based crank-angle signal of low angle discrimination and transformed to a crank-angle basis under interpolation, and whereby there is assigned to the top dead center (OT) of the respective cylinder, by a multiple, a freely selectable angle increment under interpolation with high angle discrimination.

  • Patent number: 6711945
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining the position of the combustion in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. In order to enable an early determination of the 50% mass conversion point it is provided that the maximum value of the heating progress of the combustion is determined, that the 50% mass conversion point is assigned in a temporal respect to the maximum value of the heating progress, and that the temporal assignment of the 50% mass conversion point to the maximum value of the heating progress occurs prior to the end of the combustion.
