  • Patent number: 9433417
Abstract: A device and method are provided for clips or staples as an effective substitute for suture material when joining body tissue or covering body tissue with a mesh, such as is particularly used in fracture operations. The device for applying a medical lockable clip (1) in a tissue area, includes a) an automatic advancing mechanism oriented in the direction of the tissue area from a starting position and having a guide in the advancing direction for the clip, wherein the clip has two gripper teeth oriented in the advancing direction, b) a stop for the advancing mechanism, and c) a locking element displaceable with the advancing mechanism and having a locking mechanism on the clip side for locking the clip, wherein d) the locking element is displaceable together with and parallel to the advancing mechanism, and e) the stop does not limit the motion of the locking element.

  • Patent number: 6793663
Abstract: In a surgical applicator tip for delivering clips used for connecting tissues, the applicator tip includes a magazine chamber, which receives a magazine with clips having tissue engagement claws and an operating mechanism by which the clips can be removed from the magazine and supplied to the front end of the applicator such that the claws project forwardly therefrom the applicator tip for piercing and engaging tissue parts. Each clip includes a shoulder with an elbow lever structure which, with the tissue pierced by the claws, is pushed against the shoulder whereby the claws are tilted toward each other for firmly holding the tissue parts in contact with each other.

  • Patent number: 6425896
Abstract: In an endoscopic surgical instrument for the coagulation, by high frequency energy, and for the severing of coagulated tissue areas, a coagulation pliers and a scissors structure are provided, which are mounted on the distal end of an instrument and which are operated by a handle with operating levers in such a way that, upon actuation of the handle, first the pliers is closed for grasping the tissue while the scissors are closed in a delayed fashion. After coagulation of the tissue engaged by the pliers, actuation of a second lever at the handle end of the instrument fully closes the scissors structure for cutting the tissue in the coagulation area.
