  • Patent number: 5865275
Abstract: A vehicular brake assembly comprises brake shoes and a brake disc. The brake shoes are fastened to a sheet plate and mounted inside an inner drum portion of the brake disc. The brake disc is operatively connected to an axle placed within a stationary axle housing that carries a mounting flange. The sheet plate is fastened to the mounting flange. An anchor pin is attached to the mounting flange and an opening is made in the sheet plate for the anchor pin to project therethrough to thereby serve as an abutment surface for the brake shoes transferring any force exerted on the brake shoes directly to the mounting flange. The brake disc is operatively engaged with a caliper adapted to grip an outward portion of the brake disc. The caliper slides are provided on the mounting flange to receive the caliper.

  • Patent number: 5810121
Abstract: A modular pin mounted caliper assembly is provided for use in a disc brake. The modular caliper assembly can be angled with one or more other modular caliper assemblies. Each caliper segment has a housing with a piston disposed in an inboard portion thereof for movement in an axial direction. A pair of flanges extend from opposite sides of the housing and are axially offset from each other enabling the connection and alignment of a plurality of segments. The resulting caliper can be used in a wide variety of vehicles despite changes in brake torque requirements. The modular caliper assembly includes a plurality of inboard and outboard brake shoe pairs. Each brake shoe has a pair of pin engaging features extending from opposite outboard ends of the brake shoe. Like the caliper segment flanges, the pin engaging features are axially offset from one another, enabling the shoes to be overlapped on common pins.

  • Patent number: 5806431
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for axially positioning a flexible plate on a surface of a cylinder, that is divided into several axially spaced segments, utilizes a plate transport arrangement to transfer plates from a plate preparation device to the plate cylinder. The plate is axially shiftable during transport and arrives at the plate cylinder in proper axial position.

  • Patent number: 5709151
Abstract: A device for mounting, removing and transporting an easily bendable device, such as a printing plate, to and from a plate cylinder includes a printing plate preparation device which supports the plate, and a cross arm with a plate gripper and pressing assembly. A gripper portion of the plate gripper and pressing assembly acts on the plate and is movable toward and away from a suspension strip of a cylinder. The plate gripper and pressing assembly can be moved to a parked position where it is out of the way and is shielded from contaminants.

  • Patent number: 5261712
Abstract: A latch mechanism attaches an access door to a frame. The frame has a horizontally extending ledge with an opening formed therein. A pin is rigidly attached to the frame spaced apart from the opening. A latch opening is formed in the access door. A lever is pivotally mounted on the pin and has an end which integrally forms a wedge-shaped latch member, and a part of the lever engages the frame to form a pivot axis about which the lever pivots. A spring is mounted on the pin and is biassed to hold the lever in a position wherein the latch member is received by the latch opening when the door is in a closed position. The lever is comprised of a flat metal strip including a bent portion which pivotally engages the frame and includes a first section which extends between the latch member and the pivot axis. The lever includes a second section which is positioned on the other side of the pivot axis and which is normally spaced apart from the frame.
