  • Patent number: 6481865
Abstract: A headlight device for a vehicle for producing light bundles with difference characteristics has at least one headlight having a plurality of headlight units, light means including a plurality of light sources with at least one light source provided for each of the headlight units, each of the light sources produces a light bundle with at least one characteristic, the headlight units being simultaneously operatable in various combinations, at least one of the headlight units being formed so that it produces a light bundle with at least two different characteristics.

  • Patent number: 6309094
Abstract: The projection headlight has a reflector (10), a light source (20) arranged in a peak region of the reflector, a stop or mask (30) arranged in front of the reflector and a projection lens (40) arranged in front of the stop or mask. The reflector (10) and the light source (20) are pivotally mounted and connected with each other so as to rotate together about a rotation axis (60) arranged in the vicinity of a second principal point of the projection lens (40). The illumination device has at least two of these projection headlights, advantageously on opposite sides of the vehicle. The angular orientations of the reflectors (10) are controlled independently of each other in the illumination device.

  • Patent number: 5903093
Abstract: A discharge lamp has a base with a burner having a discharge vessel with at least two electrodes and a supply conductor extending from the base to one electrode as well as a return conductor extending from the other electrode to the base, wherein the supply conductor is surrounded in the burner by a glass tube while the return conductor extends outside the burner along it, and between the surface of the supply conductor and an inner surface of the glass tube a distance is formed by an air-filled space and retained as low as possible or preferably at least approximately zero, so that the intensity of an electrical field formed between the supply conductor and the return conductor is low and the return conductor can be guided along near the burner, which makes possible a compact construction of the discharge lamp or the use of a high ignition voltage for the discharge lamp and/or its operation at high altitudes without the danger of partial discharges in the glass tube or ark-overs outside the discharge vessel.

  • Patent number: 5828174
Abstract: A discharge lamp assembly has a discharge lamp, and an ignition device for the discharge lamp, the ignition device including at least one inductive component and at least one capacitive component, at least a part of one of the components being surrounded by at least a part of the other of the components, the ignition device further having a housing in which the components are arranged and which is connectable with the discharge lamp.

  • Patent number: 5700079
Abstract: A headlight has a housing accommodating a gas discharge lamp and opening is closeable by a closing part. The gas discharge lamp is connectable by an electrical conductor with a voltage source, which is provided with a plug connection. The first plug part is arranged on the housing while the second plug part is releasable from outside of the housing. The releasable plug part blocks the cover in its position in which it closes the opening so that a removal of the cover for releasing the opening can be performed only after removal of the plug part. It is therefore guaranteed that no voltage applies to the parts of the headlight.
